Hello all Ducati and other bikes riders. Some might wonder what I am doing on UK forum while living in Thailand. Well I did start my superbike awesome experience when I was living in Scotland. I did my first track day at Knock Hill and had a great ride outs with best biker friends you could wish for. UK biking culture was always No one for me. Another thing is – this forum is in English I miss riding in UK don’t miss weather and speed cameras thou Regards from always hot Thailand Marek
Welcome, we are getting very international these days What are the roads like in Thailand, one imagines dodging buffalo, carts and rickshaws, probablynot like that at all, lol
Generally roads are good in Thailand J and I am serious about it. Some roads in national parks or in mountains are a dream to any biker. You do have to however adapt to rules or no rules and behaves of Thai and foreigner riding or driving there. And you do have to know there is more than only human using public roads!! In Koh Samui I was chasing my friend (both on fireblades ) get out from blind corner on a great surface local road and BANG nearly crashed with water buffalo. My friend made first clear but I had to change my line to avoid collision with this enormous animalJ good for me as those buffalos are trained for fights and they belongs to village where local are very attached to them if I hurt one (not mention crash a bike and break a neck) locals will chase me for sure J One thing you really have to be aware about is SCOOTERS as the ride all directions and there is lots of them. Scooter is main family transport in Thailand and you get wives with 3 kids on one of them and all ware no helmets. They turn without indicators – ALWAYS. And often ride opposite way as well. It’s been few years I was riding bikes around Thailand. I really enjoy riding there as scenery is amazing, hotels are great and cheap and Thai massage is a good muscle pain relief after day of riding. There are few tracks there. One close to Hua Hin where I live was built in middle of jungle its awesome and cheep 30 USD for whole day riding on it J
 Ps if you see my mate Shorty and his wife Elaine in Hua Hin (they've just had a house built there) say hi from me
Hello and welcome. I think you should be getting us all cheap holidays to come and try out your roads!
Hello and welcome I have visited Chaing-Mai as family live there its very beautiful and the roads were better than some here enjoy
Welcome dude! You're living in one of the most amazing places on earth! I was out in Thailand last year and one of my best memories was seeing a bunch of Ducatis rolling around Khao San road. There was a Sports Classic, among the Monsters and superbikes, and it was gorgeous. The whole place came to a stand still. It's really rare seeing a bike over 100cc over there I found, scooters aplenty mind!
yets: it is true and fact that Ducati has a largest member clubs in Thailand. bikers here are frendly and nice and even some of them dont speak much english it always great fun to go for a run with them. Ducbird : Chang Mai is many favourites and roads there are indeed great . Road from Chang Mai to Chang Rai is a paradise on two wheels brend new road, whide and fast with great corners in mouuntains Archer : you are all more then welcome to visit me and there is a great track close by. thailand is planty of scooters to rent and they can be great fun to ride too for gliddofglood lots of big elephans to ride. they are slow thou but they dont crash
Marek Whats that road called from Chang Mai to Pai, with something like 700 corners , I drove it 2 years ago; in a car unfortunately, determined to go back and do it on a bike though! I loved driving round Chang Mai city in the rush hour on a small hired bike, everyone on the road seemed to be aware of everyone else, and there was zero aggression or road rage, which enabled the traffic to flow with maximum efficiency, as if everybody was plugged into the collective consciousness! I enjoyed it so much I rode round and round for hours just amazed at how traffic can flow with that kind of mentality. The total opposite from India, where it's everyone for themselves and results in total chaos and earache from all the horns!
