Newbie based in Consett, taking a 1200DVT for test today, any advice on things to look out for appreciated. Good to be here.
welcome npu67, ask the owner when the bearings have been changed. If its going to be big money expect to see continous dealership work stamps at regular increments. And what has need replacing ( usually the fuel level thingie) or been recalled. Enjoy
Hi NPU67 I am from Consett, now in France! Service history ….and service history. There are loads available, so no reason to accept anything less than excellent condition. Big services…every 15k. Expect around £1000 for that at MandS motorcycles (assuming they still do them..) or a trip to Ducati Leeds? Fuel senders fail, replacement fuel senders fail. Heated grips fail. That said, great bikes….until you get sick of oiling chains, uncomfortable seats and turbulence from the screen…then cross over to the dark side.
Thanks, its under 5k miles and has a few stamps in the book, belts are going to be replaced and a few other bits to be done. Funnily enough during the test ride the fuel guage went from 3/4 full to empty and stayed there, had to pull over and check there was fuel in the tank, guage came back to life a half hour later, they are going to sort it. M and S still do servicing etc, theyre no longer affiliated with Ducati though i believe, i have spoken to them and they say the only thing they cant do is software updates.
