Hi New Ducati Owner From Glasgow

  1. Hi folks

Just thought I'd introduce myself as a 996 owner!

After selling my beloved gsxr750 k7 for a more pillion friendly BMW K1200r , that I then hated ( a lesson always to buy the bike you really want) , plus with my wife falling pregnant I sold it. With the advice of buy the bike you want from my wife I I started searching for a 916/996/999.

Last year and found a bike I was happy with in Grimsby, it was the closest around ( finding a Ducati in winter in Scotland for sale is hard) and after alot of searching and communication with the last owner of the bike I was happy with the condition. Although the service history hasnt been great over the last few years.

Knowing this I struck a deal and colleted it and ride 500miles home.

so after the initial 30 minutes on the motorway I settled down and found a comfy position, I dont think any other journey will feel sore after that ride so not a bad way to break yourself into ducati ownship.

I think I've attached a photo, so far the only changes are a set of remus pipes and ive stripped the heads from it for a full service, rocker arm replacement, belts etc so ive still to hear the sound of those pipes!!!! Anyway I'll no doubt be after lots of advice when rebuilding the bike up again.

Thanks for reading and Hello :)

  5. Welcome ! - I once spent an unbelievable night in Glasgow .

On the way back to the hotel from the pub, it was a magic carpet.

The following morning, it was just a doormat I'd nicked

  6. Welcome Dave :)

  7. Haha thanks for the normal and slightly mad replies! !

Makes all the difference when the ducati locals are a friendly bunch :)

Certainly seems the most helpful site so far!
