Made the most of the lovely weather yesterday and got the bike out for the first time since November and took it for a good blast. But when out I noticed that on about 3400 revs there is a high pitched whistling/whirring sound. It's only on this amount of revs so when it goes past 3.4 it goes and then when it drops below 3.4 it goes. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? It's almost as if something is resonating at this rev range? Very odd.
Not too sure about the 3400 rev bit. Mine has a high pitched whine, but only LESS than zero revs.... as soon as I start the bike and I can't hear my wife anymore then the high pitched whine goes. Perhaps I'll get it looked at?!
I'm pretty sure its not the wife, if it was I would have banished her to the shed to think about what she had done. I've never noticed it before so I'm gonna pop it down to ducati cov tomorrow for piece of mind. Just thought I would come here first to see its anyone else has experienced this and if it is was the norm.
Yes I have got Termis. They were on it when I bought it. I'll mention it tomorrow to the guys at Ducati Cov. Just out of interest why why should the valve be removed?
I'd check that you don't have a female orange or lemon whining from the pillion position. Either that or change the thread title for more help.
i think there should be a new thread entitled misspelt threads....... this goes along with the, 'dry to wet clutch conversation'...i'm sure he means conversion... Dyslexia........its more than just worms....
My bad, I wrote it on my mobile and that's always a difficult task, although I should have double checked what I had written. Also it only lets you edit posts on the mobile site and not titles, so i did try to change the title but just couldn't and couldn't be arsed to fire the laptop up
I forget what its for now but I think the valve is used for emissions or low rev noise or something civilised like that so it's not needed when you have Termis because you are then a loud racing demon
Turns out its nothing to do with my termis or me being a loud racing demon :Android: . The chap at Cov said the noise is just the chains and considering the mileage the bikes done they could still be a little tight, so nothing to worry about. But it does turn out my front forks are facked and are like pogo sticks! So getting them done under warranty.
Interesting. I experienced exactly the same concern. Rolled the bike out of the garage for the first time since October 2015 when it was serviced. A high pitched whine is now evident between 3,000 and 4,000 revs and then disappears just to reappear on the overrun back down to these revs. Is very annoying when riding through a 30 mph zone especially without ear plugs. The bike has only done 1,100 miles and certainly didn't make the noise before. Can I ask who you spoke to at Ducati Coventry?
It was John at Ducati Coventry who I spoke to when I took it to them to have a look. He was right, now that i've done more miles the sound has gone, has to be down to the engine still running in and bits and parts still being tight.
