Fast group! The guy cruising at the bottom of the Cramer Curves... that was close. In the UK do the organisers not re-group based on your typical lap time? If I had the money then I’d be on my way to collect this from you.
That was me! I'd just moved up to fast from inters at lunchtime and was trying a line Graeme told me about and got it wrong and was to far to the right and jumped on the brakes to much. If you go back a bit my speed round Redgate and Hollywood is fine. I'm just on he cusp of inters/fast. That's my excuses anyway.
I didn’t mean to criticize but putting properly rapid riders out with slower guys can lead to disaster. In 2017 I collided with the back of a guy who hit the brakes half way around a sweeping left hander when he should have been hard on the gas. The result? It broke my collarbone, knocked me out for 20 mins, took all the skin off the back of my left hand as it was trapped under the bike as I slid unconscious along the track and I now have a titanium plate keeping my shoulder together. Because of that incident and a friend who did similar last year but jumped over the slower rider during the collision, wrecking his Panigale, the organisers in Hungary have toughened up the criteria for entering the ‘fast group’ and I’m very happy with it.
Sounds a nasty incident. I'm not precious and seeing how wrong I got that corner is enlightening for me. I do feel though that as I'm on the cusp of inters / fast it's more dangerous for me to be in inters than fast. That was a Focused Events day and they normally use Chrono's but decided not to that day. None of the other organisers use Chrono's in UK that I know of or have seen. But in my 3rd TD at Brands they move up to inters and told me not to book in inters again so people do get moved sometimes. Brands Indy is easy to see the whole track though.
