Highest mileage Duke

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by slumdog, Nov 25, 2013.

  1. Just a thought as have seen a 38000 miles 1098 for sale .. Has anyone seen higher or done more miles with the same engine ? Would be keen to know when the 'Nikasil' finally bits the dust and who is eating up those road miles

  2. My ST4s rolled over 49,000 this week. Has had big end bearings and a set of inlet rockers in that time and new gear shift springs.

  3. Dibbles 996 has well over 50k on it and dozens of trackdays.

  4. I'm up to 110,000 on my multi....and still smiling

  5. You win! That is impressive, especially on a Mutley. I know an independent Ducati tech who reckons the Mutleys are among the worst of Ducati's bikes for reliability lately.

  6. its my only transport, ready every day for fun......yeah bits do go wrong ....especially when you use them.

  7. Well my 916SPS has just clocked up 32,000 miles. You don't see many SPS and R bikes with mileage like that but I guess not many owners use them most days and commute a lot like me on em.

Bet its gonna be a right bastard to sell if I ever make the change.Oh well at least I have got my monies worth out of it during my time of ownership.

  8. My Elefant has just clocked over 60,000 miles.

  9. But is it 32k on all the same internals Matt? You see, to chuck a lot of love at it thru JHP so reckon it would be less of an issue than a 20k miler which has been serviced every 3 years or so. Nothing wrong with high miles providing sh strong and good dealers used. Many have done big miles but are a little triggers broom....there are a few 100k plus multis and hypers in Australia i've seen on forums too

  10. 94 900SS bought July 95 with 5,000 on the clock, now 65,000.
    98 916SPS bought April 2005 with 10,000 on the clock now 36,000.
(Did 45,000 on my 916 Biposto from Oct 97 to Sept 04.)

Not ridden so much the last couple of years due to crap weather and other interests, and I don't use them for commuting because although its not a bad ride, its not long enough to get warmed up. (less than 10 miles.)

  11. That's irrelefant.

  12. My 1st 907 reached 75,000. Motor expired in Calais and just about got us on and off the ferry. Bottom end noises and oil light flashing at tick over, Big ends/mains suspect, I sold it and never found out. There were warning signs on the way(to Magny Cours) I could feel an odd (clunky) vibe through the footrests every so often. A few years before I had run it low on oil so that might have started the process and the bike didn't have an easy life in the 45k miles I put on it during 6 years.

  13. For 110k it goes ok :upyeah:

  14. Heard of M600s reaching 100k wether that's a myth who knows but all down to care.

    My abused CG125 82 k ......
Hope my monster carries on in that style

  15. Triggers broom? I'd rather a Triggers Broom that has had parts replaced when they needed them because of mileage/wear rather than a low miler from owners who dare not replace anything for fear of losing 'originality'. Bikes are mechanical machines made up of a bunch of parts in the first place, assembled at the factory, not a person!

  16. Heretic ;-)

  17. My good friend, Sharon Walker, passed 100,000 recorded miles on her Monster last year, but estimates she's put easily more than 130,000 on the bike due to riding it for 5 years with a broken speedo! She's had the engine 'refreshed' by Colin Yates, at Desmo Engineering in Crosby, who has twin plugged the heads, changed the valve guides and given it a gas flow after he swapped the gearbox for that of a 12,000 mile breaker. Colin also stripped the crank, fitted new big end shells, cleaned out the sludge traps, refurbished the oil pump and lapped it all back together. No sooner'd the bike been put back together, than Sharon set off on a 4-day 1,700 mile ride down to Biarritz and back. She says the bike's better than ever, especially the gearbox
