Afternoon all , this beauty popped up on an eBay saved search, can’t seem to find any info on the edition from Google , ad says it’s a numbered limited edition, anyone out there own one, or knowledgable on this edition ? Would be interested to know more https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-DUC...=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
Nice bike, but in my opinion way too expensive for a 998s. Especially if taking the mileage in consideration. I cannot see anything special apart from the bodywork and the plaque. 3-4k more could buy a 998s FE (if patient)
Go in with a low ball effort. Not as desirable as an FE but it has the more sought after sand cast engine cases, unlike the FE so will have the better Ti internals. Would you be keeping it or moving it on? If the later, wouldn’t make much financial sense.
Thanks for the reply, I’ve been educated It would be kept for the foreseeable I’d be doing a few miles on the odd fine day, the rest it would be parked in the hall way of the house for me to admire
I disagree. Maybe a bit high pricewise but the FE isn’t special. Std 999s engine, no sandcast, ti rods, 10mm offset in brakedisc. It’s jist assembled because the procurement dep. made a mistake and they needed to do something with those left over parts
Never said FE is special...special models are SL, DR16 Either way, I believe in long term an FE might hold the value better compared to a Highland Spring model. Looking from desirability and price point of view imho is as per below. 998r 998s FE & Bostrom 998s 998 TBH how many of us would notice the difference between the above bikes on the road? Is an R model really worth 3x the price of a base model? (Probably not)
