Up until an unknown issue with the bike it’s been an amzing trip, up to Oban and into the outer Hebrides, stunning roads and scenery, no traffics and the weather has played nicely all the way, can’t wait to do it again over a few more days
When the weather's good it's great up there. Frequently it isn't... Looks like the weather gods were at least on your side. Sorry to hear about the breakdown though. What was wrong with the bike? If yet to be diagnosed what were the symptoms?
Definitely got lucky on this one with just a drizzle in the lakes and Glasgow on the way but nothing at all in the Hebrides. I’ve parked it up for a couple of days now and hoping to get it in somewhere today with some luck. The bike just didn’t want to turn, at first felt like brakes binding and very heavy on the front but the bike moved freely when pushed around, felt like a flat on the front but then pressures were ok also
How is it pushing around with the ignition on/engine running. Maybe a malfunction in the ABS system? Were the disks hot to the touch after riding gently and using engine braking rather than the brakes, or blued/brown disks, both of which would indicate binding brakes. Hope you get it sorted and can continue your trip. Had an electrical issue in the South of France just over a month ago, thankfully there was a great Ducati dealer in Nice that confirmed the group's collective diagnosis and kindly provided replacement kill-switch/starter switch cluster from another bike that they had in the workshop.
Thanks mate appreciate it, The bike moves freely and the bars move freely also,no one on the island tonhave a look unfortunately so will give the bike a once over today as leaving for the main land in the morning.if it means just straight motorway just to get it home then so be it, I can have the bike apart after.
Unfortunate about the issue. I remember doing this area on my 999 about 6-7 years ago, stunning amazing trip that I'll never forget Hope you get it sorted so you can continue.
Is a great place isn’t it mate? If it’s just get the bike home this time it will all be good as I’m up here on a bike or in the car a few times a year so will have another go soon.
If you like it up there and like whisky then there's no better island than Islay. Just make sure you have a chauffeur though as they don't half knock out some potent stuff.
Been on the list for awhile mate, just stornoway is home although I get to various parts 20-30 times a year
With the stunning scenery in the photos I was just imagining myself riding there and slowing right down to take it all in.
Thing is mate, you can active a move on in places as road surfaces are much better in a lot of the places than down here
I'm from "many different places" A wee Highlander quote there. It looks like yer man scored with the weather. On the whole it's been a pretty poor year so far. Usual scortchio early April then it's pished down constantly until recently. Scortchio now though
The only rain k got all week was on the way up in Harris and Sunday but yes very lucky.tbh going all that way you expect nothing but rain and any dry day is a bonus
Folks will be board of hearing it, but generally speaking, end of March to the end of June are normally the best months on the west coast. This is argyll right now.
