HMRC NEVER contact you like that. So if you get an email like that delete it. It's an old scam..., They will write to you .
Mel's right. HMRC never email you. I found this out a few months ago. I had just contacted HMRC about something on my tax return and had it sorted. Later that day I received an email from HMRC" telling me that i was due a tax rebate, and all I had to do was click on the link. But I had a feeling that HMRC never sent emails. So I rang them again, and whilst waiting to speak to someone the pre-recorded message said they never sent emails. Job done. I forwarded a copy to them and their fraud section.
Loads of these do the rounds. As El Toro did just forward it onto their Fraud section. But thanks for the heads up!
