I am offering for sale my Honda Fireblade. I purchased this bike earlier this year to be my ‘track’ bike. This bike has an aftermarket set of track fairings and the following extras: Translogic quickshifter Datatool Gear Indicator STM Slipper Clutch Ohlins rear shock Ktech fork cartridge kit Rear sets Akrapovic Carbon exhaust with titanium link pipe Power Commander III Fold up levers 520 chain conversion Quick action throttle When I purchased the bike I took it straight to MCT Suspension to have the suspension serviced and setup which they did, and whilst it was there Darren noticed that the chain was missing the clip link. I took the bike into Motor-technics on the way home from MCT for them to fit a new DID chain, add a horn and button and give it an MOT. They did, and then told that when they test rode the bike and it got to temperature, a knocking could be heard which they thought was the big ends had gone. I wasn’t sure about their diagnosis so I took the bike to BSD in Peterborough who took the engine out and had a look at the big ends. There was the tiniest mark on one of the shells that didn’t seem sufficient to cause any problems, but I purchased a replacement RR4 engine which I was told only had 1599 miles on it when it was removed from a bike that had a BSB engine then fitted. BSD confirmed that the engine looked like the mileage was genuinely low at 1599 and so they fitted it and carried out a dyno custom tune as well. I sold the old engine and the guy I sold it too rang me up to say there wasn’t a problem with the big ends and in fact it had been the strator that when it got hot just touched the inside of its casing and caused the knocking that could be heard. Fantastic! So the bike has a nice low mileage engine and a full service. Good discs and pads, new chain, plenty of life in the tyres and I also have another set of Pirelli scrubs to include in the sale. I also have a spare pair of wheels with new discs front and rear and ‘as new’ Metzler raintec tyres to include in the sale along with a pair of wing mirrors should somebody want to ride it on the road. MOT expires 10th July 2015 and the tax runs out on 31st December 2014 I am asking only £4000 for it. Please call me on 07824 468974 for more information or other high res photos.
Looks like a nice little bike, but I fear the price is a little high for a ten year old bike. Good luck with the sale
Really? That's disappointing as I couldn't find a comparable at that price given what is on offer. The clutch, Ohlins shock and spare wheels alone cost over £2500 but I know I'll never get back what has been spent. The bike owes me about £6k. I thought I was offering it cheap but I would take a sensible offer. Thanks for your thoughts.
I'd be asking around the same, the exhaust and shock would sell no problem and that leaves a well priced bike, that exhaust is hard to get and I know someone who'd buy it in a snap, you prob get 600-800 for it. Put it up on the 1000rr.co.uk forum.
Please don't think I was saying that you are way off, im not. As @arthurbikemad has mentioned, there are some trick bits on there which would easily sell by themselves. Sadly, the market dictates that they wont increase the value of the bike by the same value, which is a shame. Its clearly a good bike, but at this time of year, its still £4k for a ten year old bike, despite the apparent bargain nature of it.
All good input, you won't know what it's worth until you put it out there as you've done, if you have room to negotiate the price you will sell it, as a package deal I am sure someone who prob has or had a RR4 etc will see something in it that others won't and they would cough the cash. I know a buyer who'd take the shock and the exhaust but then I also know a few others who would also be interested in them, anyway I and Matt I'm sure don't think it's a million miles of the true value, and after all....it's a Honda, not like it needs belts or anything lol
You'd definately do better if you removed the trick bits and sold it as standard. The nice stuff generally doesn't increase the bikes value unless you are very lucky.
£3750? AND I'll include some 'as new' tyre warmers, a paddock stand, bike cover and optimate charger. Cant think of much else you would want for a track day setup.
