Hi all yes I'm a newbie so hello to you all.First off I have a question, I am the proud owner of a Honda Hornet 600 F4 I love this bike ...but I've been distracted by the Monster 821 which I must have question is should I? I know this may seem a silly question on a Ducati forum but I believe that you lot are unbiased and level headed with honest opinion! The things i like about my Honda are that it is ultra reliable (god i hope that doesn't come back to haunt me) it's nippy, maneuverable and I like the appearance of it. I hope these traits are also available in 821 form buy what do you guys think? I know I really need to test ride one just thought I'd ask.
Organise a test ride and make your own mind up. There is a huge difference in performance delivery, handling and riding position between the Hornet and a Monster. My girlfriend rode a Hornet for a number a years and now rides a Diavel which she loves. Andy
Just chopped my gixxer 750 for an 821 stripe, only managed quick 30 mile blast since I got it but love the whole experience after 2 seasons of hard core race bikes. I test rode one at Ducati Manchester and was offered a great deal so went for it. I've had a couple of Ducati before but didn't really fall for them but the 821 is a lovely comfy super nimble ride that really turns heads. Brakes are superb, gearbox and clutch are unbelievably slick and even the mirrors sort of work lol. A gear indicator would have been nice and a fuel gauge but hey no ones perfect, I'd try one but would be surprised if you don't love it! Not many around yet so prices are still up there and termis are another grand but it's a great bike.
Hi and thanks for the reply I'd be interested in your great deal as a local dealer to me indicated that the deals were rigid which is disappointing
Mines a pre owned 15 plate stripe with termis, they had supplied it so probably made their money on it, I put my 14 plate yoshimura gixxer ltd edition and a grand to it. I was very happy. Seen a few white ones around for £7k but as I say not many about...
Welcome. I have a Hornet-900. I love it. It is easy to ride. Comfortable, reliable and fun. I use it as much as my 3 Ducatis put together. BUT, I would never trade a Ducati for it. Hornets are great every day bikes, but when you want to go out on something special it won`t make the cut. Ideal would be if you could afford both as the makes are ideal compliments to each other.
Depends if you want a nice, sensible girl as your partner or a temperamental Italian supermodel as your mistress... Some, of course, might want both
I have an 821 Stripe, and love it, feels like a toy, it is nippy and very light and maneuverable, and surprisingly quite well protected from the wind for a naked. It has loads of personality and in my opinion very good looking too. Reliability cannot comment, have heard of a few problems, especially if used continuously in bad weather, only done around 1k in mine, pulls well from low down, loads of torque for quick easy riding, I put PR4's on mine handles great. Test one and see
Hi Madproff, it's the looks that got me noticing first, next thing was the fact it's a V-twin having had two Yamahas (virago&midnight star) and of course it's a Ducati
Sorry, just seen the post. I don`t have a monster. The (900) hornet is probably faster than my ST3 though it is close. The 821 monster will be so different in feel to the hornet 600, but I bet there is not much difference in the actual figures.
