Honest with insurance ?

  1. Ok so just renewed mine and for the first time ever ran into issues with modifications.

If i specified the Dp ecu, exhaust, various carbon, Dp seat etc, only 1 would qoute.

That's Devon, 46. 9 years ncb, no convictions etc garaged.

I've kept quiet about the ecu and no problem and have to chance it.

    Anyone else had this issue.

  2. I had it the other week was quote £117 for my 999 but £280 or so with a PCIII  it pays to be dishonest these days or they will think of any way to grease you up.
Lets say it was a remapped ECU then I would not have said a dickie bird. I'd only declare what can be seen. Obvously with me being so honest I would always declare any modification

  3. Ditto. Declared everything last year, nothing this time round as the cost just went up too much. The bike will be garaged for the rest of the year end of next week so hopefully all will be ok.

  4. Might not be the best thing to semi-identify yourself doing this on a public forum though.

  5. And failing to declare modifications will likely mean your insurance is invalid. Your insurance company could well leave you without cover if the worst happened, as well as you falling foul of the law. When you take out insurance you enter into a contract and failing to be truthful could well be a breach of that agreement. In the event of an accident I believe the insurance company is legally obliged to honour third party claims, but will not pay for your damage and could even pursue you for any payments they've made. Also, even if they do pay out, you won't get your modified parts replaced, because as far as the insurance company is aware they don't exist! My Baines Imola is always an issue to insure as according to the logbook it's still listed as a 900SS. I have to send multiple pictures and the brochure in PDF form to get quotes. Not being funny, but if an un-insured rider hit your Duke you'd be more than a little pissed!
Why skimp on insurance for the sake of a few quid, or if you can't afford to insure what you ride get something cheaper.....

  6. I agree NN
It only takes a front end go or a blind driver.

As much as it costs you dont skimp
On insurance you just never know.
When your injured the last you need to worry about is the fight on your hands to save your baby
