Horizontal Cylinder Head Exhaust Studs?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Amentia, Apr 15, 2014.

  1. As you can probably tell from the title, I'm not sure what these are called, but they are the threaded bits for bolting the exhaust to the cylinderhead.

I have some on my vertical head, but not on the horizontal. I'm sure I didn't remove them but I striped the bike down 7 months ago so I might have forgotten.

Should I have some, or does the horizontal head use bolts instead?

    Cheers

  2. No, should have studs as well, lovely clean engine, puts mine to shame!

  3. That's what I though. I'm 99% I didn't take them out. Must have come out at the blasters.

    Cheers

  4. Anybody know the size and tread of the studs?

  5. M8 x 37mm manifold stud will do the trick

  6. Brilliant. Thanks for your help :)

  7. And M8 flanged nuts like on the other head........

  8. I bought x2 of everything for the exhaust as the originasls were all ugly. Just didn't notice the studs until I went to fit them haha

  9. I was going to ask a question relating to header studs.... will stainless be OK with the material the heads are made of?

  10. Stainless will be fine, you can find them readily on ebay

  11. Awesome, I know some metals don't react too well together, so thought it worth an ask :)

  12. Thanks very much, but it's going back together atm after being painted. We'll see what its like once I've been using it for a while :)
