848 Horn Wiring Colour?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Weeksy, Apr 23, 2015.

  1. Need to fit a horn and my wiring diagram is impossible to work out colours etc.

Any ideas what colour to save me taking apart the switchgear?

  2. Took switchgear apart and looks like a brown and a black/white.

Need to know what they come out of that connector block as. I have 2 wires looped/bypassed off there I can see, black/yellow and a blue. They have spade connectors and a loop wire on.

  3. Download the 2009 848 handbook from the Ducati site. Wiring diagram is at the end of book. You can zoom into it. Wires into horn are Black and Violet. Into multi connector for switch Red/Blue and Violet

  4. Hmm. Indeed a great big hmm.

I don't mean to sound dismissive but when I take it apart they're honestly not the colours I see.

  5. Black/white - turn signal
    Brown - ?
Yellow/Black - high beam (rigged to put both lights on all time?)
    Blue - ?

  6. Well I can find the Violet and Red/Blue into the connector, they seem to exit about 6" further back to then go on a long trip down to back of Rad for the horn, however that part is a complete and utter mystery to me ... It's all wrapped and impossible to find out where it may potentially go, I'd have to unwrap a load of stuff to even begin to work it out.... So we need to come up with a plan B.

It may be possible to do something at the connector end and see.... but that's for another day.

  7. If its the same as the 1098, which in all probability it will be there is a common pos +12 entering the switch, its red/blue on the loom side, on the switch side no clue. The violet loom wire goes to the horn.

The horn is then earthed through the dash through a black wire which changes via a connector to White/Pink and goes into pin 2 on the dash

Dunno if that helps or not
