How bad are termis made?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by simiansmythe, Dec 23, 2012.

  1. Anybody else noticed how badly Termignoni exhausts are made? I was in the dealers looking at end cans and full systems that where hung up and honestly the manufacture was appaling for such a high priced item. The welding looks like an apprentice has done it, the cut outs in the silencer bands where like they had been chewed out instead of cut, there where marks from the pressings and the db killers didnt fit in the holes properly. I know they are THE thing for dukes but go and look at an Arrow or Akra set of pipes and the welding is stunning! Glad mine already has termi end cans as I wouldnt be buying any !!

  2. Akros all the way ;) or get them polished, seems to hide the welds :)

  3. I polish them and have seen loads. And yes I agree. They are poorly made covered in weld splatter, stubs of mig wire, not purged so inside welds are gassless and ugly, inside is not flowed just cut to fit, heavy stainless and so on. Shame as the design of the new ones are ok IMO but I can weld better myself on mig, and why now they are not CNC tig is a mystery to me. I often say they need to swap the welder that makes the shipping crates with the blind bloke that makes the exhausts!

I LOVE Akras but they look so BULKY on the Ducati.... Friggin nice though... I just had to have Termis....sad...

  4. Looking at the 1199 system the other day the welds and general quality seem a lot better. I have the full system too. Really wanted a Akro system (Ti) but the terminal came up at a price I couldn't refuse.

still in the market for a Akro though:tongue:

  5. No they are no better, if you felt the weight of a full Akra you'd put the Termi in the bin.

  6. Plus my system was a bitch to fit! Still can't decide wether to lightly polish it though.

  7. Haha, mate I could not look at those welds so it was polished.... now here's my idea, off to racefit to make a full set of headers in Ti! what you think? Just like Carlos had before that moaned about weight!

I may be doing a satin polish if that makes since, clean up and brush finnish

  14. My termis are superb, beautiful, fantastic and with the DB killers out I think I have the loudest Ducati ROADBIKE ever....the akras do look nice, but those Zard things look the dogs...

  15. I have scorpions on the SS (as well as my old CBR) and the quality is fantastic. As scorpion and Akrapovic are one and the same I naturally bias towards Akro.

  16. You mean Skorpion...lol Not those other "things"...lol

  17. 'Scorpion' are made up near derby, deinately not Slovakia.

  18. Akrapovic used to be called Skorpion, now renamed after Igor Akrapovic :) for those who are interested...

Now making car systems too! And soon, medical stuff.....god knows what...maybe sporty bones....lol

  19. You mean I could have had an Akropovic gamma nail in my leg if it were a bit later? Doh. As it is, I believe its made in France by a company called stryker.

  20. I thought Titanium headers had a tendency to crack due to vibration and thermal expansion/contraction at the head end ?
