1200 DVT How Do You Lock Your Helmet To Your Multi?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Martylaa, May 22, 2022.

  1. If I'm having a ride out somewhere I'll try not to take the top box unless I know I'll be walking around, in that case I'll generally put the helmet in the top box, anyone use something which allows them to just lock the helmet to the bike somehow?

I've seen other makes sometimes do a small helmet locking system you can attach, just wondered if Ducati do something similar (can't really find anything online).

  2. I just bought a short cable lock, so generally stick the helmet on the mirror and padlock it to the handlebars.

  3. Ah ok that'd work, cheers.

Wondering if this is something that would work, I'm guessing if someone really wants the helmet they could take it but it may be enough to deter an opportunist whilst I had a wander...

  4. Big chain through/under top yoke and through visor aperture :upyeah:

  5. If you’ve got a tinted visor (or even if you haven’t) take your helmet bag with you and pop it over the lid, at £60+ a pop and so easy to remove I’ve known people to come back to their bike to find the visor gone.

Especially if their easy to remove (Arai/Shoei)

  6. Unreal to think someone would nick a visor but I guess there are is someone out there who would.

  7. I use this, if I don't have any room left in topbox:

  9. If I have to, I use a cheapish Abus combi wire lock that is one of the few things that will actually fit under the seat. My DVT never came with the cable lock that some supposedly did from the factory?

It looks like a radio here lol - but the wire locks back into itself ;)

It'll stop the casual scroat, anyone with a decent set of snips will get through the cable of course

  10. Helmetlok if it doesn’t go in the top box, available from numerous places including Amazon.

  11. Looks ok, but on a windy day that’s just going to smash the helmet into the bike, damaging both in the process.

  12. This! imagine the ride home in a pisssoaked lid...

  13. It was in the rebellious 80s where no copper alive would have caught him lidless on his 50cc fizzie
