I ordered a Pikes Peak from Snells about a month ago and am expecting a call any time soon to arrange delivery, hopefully this weekend the bike will have heated grips, electric fuel cap, led driving lamps as per the GT, a GB plate (the demo had a std one) and a non coded key for the pannoers. I have cleared space in the garage and ordered a wheel nut socket and an Abba stand, I am now thinking about an evotech radiator guard and a cylinder head guard to protect the front head from stone chips. My question relates to the evotech head guard which hangs from the 2 fittings on the underside of the cylinder head, this guard weighs in at 420g and I am worried that nearly half a kilo hanging on these 2 fittings might be just too much weight, does anyone have any experience of this part or any other head guard, is the cyl head robust enough to support this?
Firstly congratulations. You'll love it. Can I ask why you're having a different key for the panniers. Don't the new models come with identical barrels so you can use the same key? I have the head guard from eBay, guy is an engineer and fabricates himself and has proved fantastic at stopping crap and is bolted into cylinder head along with exhaust guard I use. http://bit.ly/1fVzfRJ

The pannier key is the same as the proper key and I am told is easier than pulling the remote key fob out of a waterproof pocket, although thinking about it might be a waste of time with the electric fuel cap. I guess from your post that you haven't had any cooling issues, can I also ask about the header guard, is that SW motec?
Congrats on the purchase - you'll not be disappointed. I have the Evotech radiator and oil guards fitted and their well engineered, good quality items (I'd recommend getting both). I saw the Evotech head guard on Ebay recently and it looks similar quality but, at nearly twice the price, I'm with Jase1 regarding the alternative which has been doing the business on my Mutley: for the past 18 months. There's loads of different options but try this link to see some of the stuff I went for and it includes other links as well. Health to use and all the best, Mark H PS. You might need to click on the pictures in the link to enlarge them as it's an old thread.......
I have the same guards fitted as Jase n recommend them both. Congrats on the Bike, its a cracking bit of kit.
Gone for one of those head guards too on the recommendations here. Enjoy the bike mate, get mine at last tomorrow, won't sleep well tonight LOL
:smile:Great choice, I'm still loving mine after a year and can't think of anything else I would rather have ! enjoy I know you will
when is it due? ive put the Guard on my bike, along with Evotech protectors rad/oil cooler, and Sw Motech crash bars, but on a PP most people keep them quite sleek looking Cue a phone call to Snells in the morning
I spoke to them on Friday last week, they said they had had the invoice from Ducati which means it's on the way, they said a week to 10 days. At the time I said no rush, just let me know when it is nearly ready and we will sort it out, now I am like a kid waiting for father Xmas! I don't want to put too much extra stuff on it, just a rad and head protector to stop stone damage from the front tyre, I'm not even convinced I need an oil cooler guard, I never bothered on the GS.
Fair enough and I see your point. That said, the local council around my way have decided to spend the taxpayers well earned on throwing wet tar and 'chippings' down everywhere. The so called 'chippings' can make a fair dent in either rad (and the front paintwork) when sitting behind other vehicles which is one of the reasons I opted for both (and some Ventureshield).
I see Evotech do a new engine guard that looks nice and substantial. http://www.evotech-performance.com/2013-2019/ducati-multistrada-2010-onwards-engine-guard-protector
BarkBusters don't look so bad on a PP either and bloody cheap insurance for the levers, not to mention the clutch M/cyl and indicator shroud which are one unit, in the case of a drop. Trust me, I know this
