Having got over my dislike of the fairing on the last supersport models I find myself putting the 1000 DS at the top of my Ducati wish list. I wonder how many were sold. Looks like it could have been in single figures, based on how rarely they come up for sale .
There's a Cat D on ebay at the moment. I enjoyed the DS motor in my Multistrada - a 1000ss would I imagine be a lovely bike.
Yes, seen it and am still trying to work out if you need to have the 2006 red frame version if you want the lighter forks and reworked swing arm.
Yep I've got one and I love it. It's a keeper. They are starting to make good investments as they were the last of the air cooled Ducati's and are going up in value. Not overly fast top end but who cares, loads of torque down the bottom. Really good fun to ride. Even though I own a Panigale as well I still enjoy taking the SS out. Here's a very self indulgent picture.
All 1000 Supersport are same spec. The last year(06), red full fairing only model, had red frames. The grey/red wheels(not called senna) was also available in half fairing(MY2004/5). Great bikes with some nice kit as standard but not many made.
The later bikes got the ohlins rear shock, not sure what year that was introduced, mines an 05 and has it.
That cat d bike went for 2 grand and it had 20k on the clock. I am viewing a red frame one with 13k on the clock next week. He wants 3250 for it. The red frame is swaying it for me. I have seen evidence that there are at least 2 of these in the uk, yet they are supposed to be USA only?
this might still be for sale, very nice. DUCATI 900SSie | eBay I've seen a couple of red framed 1000's on the bay over the years and I think the write off I bought for its arm was red. I only owned it long enough to remove the arm, didn't even get the bike home.
Nice. Two things though. I have a 94 900ss that I am hanging onto for now so the double spark and extra cc is appealing. And he wants more than £2450 for it, which seems about the right price really.
