Hi, I've taken the plunge and bought new chain and sprockets, going up 2 teeth on the back. however i'm struggling to work out how many links the chain should be with the extra sizing of the rear sprocket. i know the standard chain length is 98 links, the chain i have is 104 links long which i know i need to cut down to size, do i go with 98 teeth?
Dunno but you could dry fit your old 98 link chain to see if it fits. I reckon you'd probably need another couple of links.
Is your old sprocket the stock 36t one? So the new one is 38t? Original chain has 96 links and 98 will be fine for a 38t rear sprocket. I currently have 15/39 with a 98 link chain.
Working on half a radius of the sprocket wouldn't it mean +1 link for 2 extra teeth. Top tip - don't cut too much off
