How many helmets have you got - ones that get used even occasionally, rather than collection items. Myself: 1 - Arai RX 7V 1 - HJC RPHA 11 1 - AGV K6 Another AGV K6 on the way in a better better graphic, as the originals did not have much of a choice of colour scheme. Just needing a bit of support for the inevitable - why do you need another helmet haven't you already got one - question at work !
Well obviously they only last so long so For safety reasons should be replaced regularly Personally I generally have 2 at any one time, a regular and a back up. Currently got: Roof Boxxer 9, arrived this week Shoei NXR Arai Chaser, sold this week on FB I know a guy on the MV forum who buys every Arai RX7 TT lid, must be 10 of them by now, never worn, an expensive hobby
Agreed - safety reasons ! 2 seems right as a minimum. Then you can have one with a clear visor on it and the other with a smoke visor - both ready to go. Well done selling the Arai - not really tried selling them before because I thought second hand ones didn't sell - even in good condition. The Shark Race R Pro in the avatar was tested to destruction ! Should have tried to sell it perhaps. Roof Boxxer 9 - they look good.
just what is normal.. i've never counted but bet I have 7 or 8. 2 Arai (made a mistake already) 4 HJC (2 carbon) 1 Xlite carbon, 1 LS2 (purchase mistake/uncomfortable) + probably 3 or 4 that need giving away.
1x Neotek 2 bestest tourer 1x shoei can’t remember comfy town lid 1x Velmar 1x BMW system 6 getting knackered done a lot of miles 1x Davida open face complete with thingamy goggles and black and white checks Triumph use only or when I want to look a true knob head. 1x Ducati something or other bought on here. Matches my eyes, Arai I think 1x Aprilla thingy looks nice but crap! Noisy but was a discount and very pretty. 4x various sizes open face for the kids and friends in France who always want a quick tour until they eat the first wasp. 2 x matching red full face suomys bought when I bought the 916 so old now. 1x Bell full face bought in 1976 all weird metallic. Some where in the wardrobe. Really need to clear out the house, born to hoard! Not included the kids individual helmets in UK doubt if any fit now! Don’t start a boot or leathers thread I’ll fill pages.
That is pretty good going - 4 HJCs ! - It is nice to try different makes even though sometimes they prove to be a mistake - I was a bit disappointed with the Shark as it was quite noisy, but it looked nice. To go with a classic bike - and the Nexx to go with something more modern and sporty perhaps ?
Wow ! Wasps and bees sting at speed even if they don't actually sting you - if that makes sense ! Some helmets are better suited to the sportsbikes riding position so it is not unreasonable to have specifics for different kinds of bikes. You will have to be ruthless and chuck stuff out ! I have learnt to be ruthless and get rid of stuff - thrown at least 2 Arais out. One tested to destruction - next door wondered what was going on early Sunday morning as it was being launched repeatedly from upstairs window ! Keep the boots and leathers for another day then
Just two, an open face not sure what make, but cheap as chips many moons ago, plus the full face Arai for those full on testosterone days out. With a total of only four in 32/33 years riding.
Very restrained. Not sure what your first lid would have been then ? - Mine was a second hand Deus that split in two after spraying it. First decent lid was a Kiwi K10.
I did have a clear out about 10 years ago, painful. Donated 4 helmets to the local Ambulance station for training purposes. Not sure if they still take them.
5x RX7s 2xAGVs all been down the road so will donate them to ambulance service! Current helmets 2x race r pros 1x AGV ,few others ! I want to try the AGV pista pro but they’re so bloody expensive!
Ah well, it is done now - move on. Saying that my Mum still has my Teddy Bear in the attic And Dad's racing helmet that looks like it is made of cork and leather - pudding basin ones. Thing looks like a liability ! Never thought to give old helmets to ambulance, although did try charity shops and they were not interested in "Safety Equipment" because of, ironically, Health and Safety !!
Never thought of that - with an off the helmet can get written off as well as bike parts. AGV Pista is expensive but Arai RX7Vs are not cheap either - sure mine was about £600 at the time.
That’s it Mattie, I paid around 500 for my RX7s and one of them got trashed The first time I wore it! Just got so expensive so I switched to the shark carbon which I actually prefer and is half the cost ,I can also confirm that they perform well should you highside at 80mph
I’ve got 4. Shoei GT Air Shoei Neotec 2 Shoei Hornet Adv AGV Ducati thing And I can justify having all of them!
slightly off piste but is the rx7v the successor to the rx7 gp? ive just binned my gp so need to buy a new lid and would like to buy the current equivalent of my gp which i bought new about 6 years back
