Guys, it seems the IAT sensor is behind the headlight assembly on a 939 hyper (821 as well). Anyone have any idea what you need to take off to get to the connector? Thinking about trying a booster plug for my Hyper as I had good luck with it on my Thruxton R but the instructions are crap and not sure how to get to it..... Any help would be great!
I have this fitted to mine. It's very easy. Simply take off the front headlight cowl, couple of screws underneath, and on top. Remove it and you'll see the flat pin connector, unplug it, insert the Booster plug and run the new metal thermostat down the side of the fork leg. This way you keep it in the coolest area. Your temp gauge will read very very low, but your engine temp will remain the same. I've also just fitted a Rapid Bike Easy, I would suggest you fit one of those first, it's transformed my bike, no more popping, and much much smoother fuelling.
Thanks for the info.! I actually just ordered one of these and any details on how you installed it and if your mileage was affected, would be much appreciated! Does the unit come with an extension cable so you can install it under the seat? Oh and where did you set the trims?
Hi @C RFan1, I have uploaded an extract from the workshop manual showing the removal and installation of the fairing which will give you access to the IAT plug. The sequence in the manual is "reinstall" and then "remove" (I think it is because this is what they use when assembling the machines?). Anyway, hope it helps. Let me know it you need something else.
