How To Read The Date On New Tyre

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Jun 6, 2018.

  1. Just had 2 new tyres delivered after buying on the internet.

The DOT code reads: W87W 022X 1716 on the front tyre.

The DOT code reads: W86W 01KX 3317 on the rear tyre.

Cant make head or tail of the year of manufacture from this, can anyone help please?

  2. It should be those last 4 digits, split into week and year.

    That’s 17th week of 2016 & 33rd week of 2017

  3. Hmmm..... checked mine and they say...

    1608

    16th week of 2008??

Looks like they're the original tyres on my 1098R! Kinda nice having the original tyres....but as they're over 10 years old now better get them changed o_O

  6. Give it to me for the weekend, I'll put a fresh set of tyres on it for you and return it on Sunday night!

  7. Haha keep your hair on guys! I was just trying to bring some drama to the thread lol.
I noticed it had the original tyres on when I bought it last year. Just waiting until I fully recommissioned it after 5 years of sitting in someone's living room. Accomplished that a few weeks ago, then a new baby arrived so just waiting for my next available time (never right now!) And weather permitting and the next journey will be to Nelly's for some new tyres!
Still like the fact it's got original tyres on. They're squarer than a square though :/
