OK so I decided to do the right thing and ask the professionals, this is from Peter Wayte - Senior technical Specialist at Goodyear Dunlop UK (who will be at Donington this weekend if you wanna ask him...) : 1. Do not leave the bike or tyres in the sunshine. 2. Measure and set the cold pressures when the bike is in the van or garage, see 1. 3. Put the warmers on for the recommended time for the recommended on-warmers temperature. 4. Take the warmers off and set the on-warmers pressure. 4. Ride a few fast laps and enter the garage/pits. 5. Check tyre pressures immediately and adjust as required to get into the correct running range. 6. Repeat 3, 4, and 5 throughout the day and check tyre wear. 7. If you have ridden the bike to the track allow at least one hour before setting the cold pressure. @bradders At no point did Peter mention a bloke called Steph either... Here are their 2017 race track ONLY recommendations:
Point 4 negates the first. You set pressure off the warmers for track, not at cold, and before you go. Point 2 is simply saying set a cold pressure so it doesn't go bang on the warmers
