1260 How To Stop The Back Wheel Making You Wet?!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by 1260Enduro, Jan 27, 2019.

  1. Took a testride on a 1260 Enduro yesterday and so impressed with the bike I've ordered one!
Only real problem was it was raining and the back wheel throws up all kinds of dirt/water/mud all around the back of the bike and even on the seat.
I've come to the Multi from a GSA and that had a thing called a mudsling to keep the water off the rider and it worked very well. Unfortunately the company that made it don't make anything for the Multi.
So my question is does anybody know of an aftermarket mudsling or hugger type arrangement to effectively keep the water off?
    Thanks for any tips!

  2. Did it have the rear crud catcher fitted? Lots of people remove them to improve the look

  3. Yes, it was a brand new demonstrator so completely standard. The Crudcatcher you mention is, I guess the large, flat mudguard/hugger which comes standard on the bike but seems to be not very effective.
    Any other ideas or suggestions?

  4. My top-case is permanently on my bike & catches all the mud & shite.

  5. Get an RSV4 with a tail-tidy. Then you will really get soaked and dirty!

  6. That's nothing. How about a Monster 1200R without the stock tail piece and Rosso III's? Let's talk about rooster tails.

  7. Thought it was called a crap flap.

  8. Mine after run in crap weather. As said above my backbox keeps it off me & the seat.

  9. Hell of a thing when you have to put a topbox on to stop getting covered in crud. It wouldn’t take a design genius to come up with a decent looking piece of plastic that goes from the front to the rear of the swinging arm and mount it where the crud thing is.

  10. Triumph were ahead of the game with their “bathtub” rear end, and Ariel too with the Leader!

  11. And Francis Barnett and Vincent.
My Laverda has brilliant “Mudguards” why can’t Ducati ?

  12. It's all about style isn't it. Multi with meaty 190 rear tyre fully enclosed like the old bathtub. Nah. Like some have said a lot take off the granny knicker ripper from the back to make them look meaner. Suppose for those that want it fully covered , could cut an old tyre up & tywrap to rear end. Rat bike.

  13. Is there not a longer hugger supplied when new? On the original Skyhook MTS, I had a short one and a longer one.

  14. I was not offered an alternative when bought new in 2017. But mine is 1200s not enduro.

  15. I think its more of a side draft and vacuum bubble issue.

Would sure be nice not to get wet from just standing water.

    Oh well...1st world problems :D

  16. Such strange people on here.

  17. Just a thought, On the front mudguard of many bikes, people fit fender extenders, I wonder if one of those would fit on the tail part or the hugger part to give you a from factory look and still cut down on the shite thrown up?
