How Was Your Biking Year?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Nelson, Oct 27, 2014.

  1. As the road biking year/season draws to an end. How was yours?

Mine had its ups and downs.
    No offs / crashes fortunately!

I got to take the 748/848 evo track bike I built to Spain and up and down the UK including the Ducati Day at Silverstone.(thanks Matt).
I can see my new found track addiction continuing into 2015!

My original 748/1098 build decided to shuffle off its ends :(. So was broken up for spares. Very sad considering the the time, effort and R&D that was invested in her.

    I then went on to build this;

Which so far has been fabby! :D

  2. Good Post

    Mine started well

was running my ZX6R thru the start of this year, bike never missed a beat,
then decided it was time for a change so picked up a New 899 Panigale, been using it regularly,
will use it for a few more weeks then it will be time to park it up and dig out the supermoto for winter,

STill got the ZX6R locked away at the moment , will have the 899 for company soon, once I have washed and waxed it,

Not had a chance to get away for a biking holiday etc this year work commitments, next year for sure, want to get away for a few days, camp BBQ beer and mates on bikes,

  4. Great thanks :)

  5. Okay. One big crash at Silverstone and a trip to Italy on the same bike 8wks later. All in all, pretty good I think

  6. not to bad, cheers. as per usual, living 30 mls away from my workshop every one wants there car picked up from where i live during the summer, which means i always miss the spring sunshine. still managed 6k between the two.

  7. About 1500 miles :( I blame work & the fact my kids have a busier social scedule than me...

  8. Reasonably uneventful.....its been a shitty year - friend died at the start of year, dad died the day before I went to the TT - last conversation went along the lines of "go on son, go, don't worry about me but be careful!" resulting in loss of mojo - cheers Dad! - rsv4 off for the entire summer waiting for parts. Got it together to go to the Motogp which was a first time for me (going to any big circuit race - never done it before). Saying that weve had a good summer so the hyper has been used heavily and has been good fun. Bought an enduro off my mate which has just in the last couple of days started to take shape as a supermoto special....although ive found a whole new avenue of debt as I stumbled on something ive never seen before from a wiring point of view....I wont say anything til im well into the overdraft....

  9. Not nearly enough riding for me this year. Thanks mainly to not getting very much time off work.

Next year, I will be booking most of the summer off, and I will be doing this in January. Feckers can work around me and what I want, next year. Fecking fackers!

  10. WTF was that ?

  11. Not bad, and the weather was pretty good, but limited saddle time (kids, wife, yadda yadda).

    Finished building this:

    Bought and started (re)building this:

Had to sell the track bike though as I didn't get the chance to use it more than a couple of times last year and there's only Knockhill within workable distance of me now (that bike needs replacing 'cos I miss the track too much, but practicalities will get in the way there, I suspect). Introduced my wee boy to speedway (I'd forgotten how much fun that was):

Got to a couple of road race meetings, just about managed to keep up with the GP/WSB/BSB/roads on telly. Not quite over yet, and my bike's never fully "off the road" just in case the mood takes me in winter, but roll on spring 2015.....

    MICK..

  12. Terrible only managed 14000 miles this year on the Blade, and the year is far from finished for me as I only put my road pilot 4s on last week. Hoping to crack at least another 2K more miles yet before crimbo!!!
Had so many good rides out I cannot remember which was the best or worst, actually going to the Ducati meet in Wandsworth last month in the pissing rain was not much fun I grant you but the late night buger run we had after at Cobham services was cracking.
Anyway I have not got time to write stuff like this when I could be out biking which is where I am going to be now as the weather is lovely!!
All you nutcases who thought the biking weather was over must be crawling on the floor now seeing as the temperature is in the high teens and no sign of rain, still it's your loss and not mine.
    Tootle pip.

  13. Yup - hoping to get out in a bit.....working from home at the moment while the kids are on holiday so ive got a bit of shuttling to do, empty the 'ouse and then I have to nip in to work to collect some stuff....off out to the hangar to fuel up the rsv in a min :)

  14. It may well be warming up a bit but the fact I lost the front end on my car coming into a junction on the way to work tells me the road surface isnt the best right now.... Way too much leafage... (Thats a new word.... You are welcome)

  15. Started like this in Feb

Then some of this in May

  16. Overall fairly shite. I think I managed just 900 miles and one track day. The road riding was dull and my trackday riding was was slow. The only upside is my insurance has dropped 50% and now includes trackdays (albeit with a 50% of bike value excess) for no extra charge.

I was hoping to get out this afternoon, however, a three hour 40 mile car journey has put paid to that.

    Apologies for a mizz post.

  17. A good year for me, some fun miles on my Pantah Special including a day at McLaren F1, the the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. Then I dragged he old Elefant out and rode it to Italy for WDW, taking in some nice passes along the way. Then I bought the C1 for a giggle! A good year, and next year may be better with the Bol d'Or and maybe a new purchase ;-)

  18. pretty good for me... 20 days on track including 6 rounds of the No Limits 600 Endurance championship - 2 x third places (rockingham - despite a crash & cadwell park - never even been there before!) and 4th overall in the final table.

more track time on Daisy this year which has led to some planned winter upgrades..

  19. Was okay for me, got to ride my first ever Ducati (899) and ran it in over the mountain section of the TT and was able to open it up at last. Great fun but on my return had to have another operation on my elbow at the start of July so that was end of my biking this year apart from taking it to the dealer for its first annual service on Saturday there.

manged to skip work early today and rack up a massive 50 miles! didnt get to any races this year... but hay ho. cant really say i had a biking year in the sense of riding but had a good one working on and getting my bike running, hanging out at proteam with Alec and being around bikes. So its all good!
