Its been a year of getting to know my Duc with some re-calibrating of my riding after a lifetime on jap fours. I must say im really enjoying riding it now. There were times in the early days i come close to getting rid and going back to the dark side, but a trip to Scotland with my son on his YBR125 and the fun we had sealed the deal. Not withstanding the crap weather i get out once a week and went to Cadwell BSB with some pals all on jap fours, may have got some converts as two had a ten mile blast on my bike and were well impressed. Another month on the road and then stripped to be polish and tarted over winter.
What summer? I have to say that 2012 hasn't been a particularly good year at all, and I don't just mean weather wise! Both me and the missus have had a crap year with health issues which have been compounded by poor service from the local doctors. I can't wait for this year to be over, and pray that 2013 will be a much better year. Having said that I'm currently enjoying the reasonable weather we are having and the opportunity to get out and get a few miles under my wheels.
I suppose its the same for everyone with the weather being so bad most of the time. A group of us had a great weekend in the lake district even though it was torrential rain for some of it and steady rain for the rest of it ! Went up the wrynose/hardknott/kirkstone passes which with all the gravel and standing water was an experience on my supercorsa shod R1 ! Hopefully we can have some good weather towards the end of the year so I can get out on my newly purchased 1198 !
Fingers crossed this weather continues for all of us, it seems such a waste to have such beautiful machinery sat in garages/under covers because it's just no fun being out in the wet. I'm fortunate that my bike is purely for pleasure, but that means I want dry days to enjoy it properly. What happened to the doom and gloom merchants predicting global warming giving us such hot summers? Hasn't happened yet has it?
Too much rain if course! Got a few thousand miles in on my completed project bike, so that has been pretty cool... I was hoping to pop my track day cherry this year, but the weather screwed that form me...Wasn't going to do my first in the rain or risk paying, then losing the lolly. Still loving to ride, hopefully learning and keeping safe...
I'm not a doom and gloom merchant, but I think we all understand now why scientists call it climate change not global warming - bummer is that crap summers for us could be the result
But on a lighter note here is a picture of a biker chick suitably dressed for our summer weather original pic - silvertonkate of southwestbikers.com
Ive managed to rack up 5500 miles this year, done`t know how. With the ice cap disappearing at a record rate and a wobbly jet stream, 2013`s not looking any better. Sorry to hear about your health problems Archer17, hope it works out for you both. im 53 and certain man parts are playing up big time, really should`nt put it off any longer, NOT looking forward to the finger if ya get my drift.
Weather is really nice here now. So what am I up to tomorrow? Out with the 999? No. Will have to stack god knows how much wood that has just been delivered for the winter fire. There's a massive pile of it outside my woodshed. Hours of fun in store. That's once I've been to buy the paint to repaint the door surround. Has to be done before the cold and wet arrive big time. There's always chores getting in the way of my riding. Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!
Sorry but mine was a SUUUUPEEEEER year! it's been a scorcher of a year! Finished the 999R project and took it to Assen for the first time and rode a true SBK for the first time since 1997! got and sold the ST4 to upgrade to MTS1200 that's been an absolute joy and blast and carried the 2 of us on trips to the Somme, Luzern and back and then the memorable 11 day Scotland tour! totaling 4800 miles so far... the missss and i found out we can stand the rides and each other in these circumstances and so it bodes well for the future and from the weather side : good to see that our raining gear really does the job! and sorry but : No rain, no rainbows! a very good 2013 to all of you! especially those looking forward to better health! Koen
 for better throttle control and extremely helpfull while waiting for cruise control !
Well put it this way a shit load of rain and 1 blown up engine means I clocked up less than 1000 miles this year and 1 trackday!!! Bikes now running again... Just in time for winter
The worst I've ever had I think, apart from getting the ST3 in May, it's been pretty forgetful, with both of us having health issues riding has been severely limited even on the good days, the garden is a mess as I've not been able to look after it, the outside of the house needs some maintenance ( wooden doors and windows need re-staining), I've got 2 trees to cut down and an area at the front of the house to clear before I can put the mancave together, and now the weather is getting worse! Roll on 2013!
