749 Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder

  1. Just rebuilt a crash damaged Ducti 749 and went for a decent run on it, after about 50 miles the clutch started slipping and would not drive above 4000rpm, i had fitted a corsa slipper clutch during rebuild so suspected issue with it. Once home i removed pressure plate (all bolts were still tight etc) and inspected plates - all looked ok, but i notices the push rod from slave cylinder was advanced, it would go back with pressure applied but would always return to the out position. i removed top of fluid reservoir but it was the same, also when advanced the clutch lever was solid and could not be depressed. I though there could be issue with the slave cylinder as i would expected it to stay in the retracted position when the lever is in the out position? and considered this to be applying enough pressure to allow the clutch to slip without the clutch lever depressed?
    Your advice would be appreciated.

  2. Is it the same after the bike has cooled down?
I wonder if air in the system could have heated and expanded.
    Weird...

  3. It was the slipper clutch, there were no instructions as i bought it second hand so installed plates as per standard clutch. One of the steel plates was falling behind the clutch hub as it lifted on the ramp system and prevented the clutch from fully engaging hence the slipping and issue with the position of the slave cylinder and push rod. Re-fitted plates with a friction plate first and it works as intended.

  4. Should be quieter too...
