Hydraulic Ramp

  1. Going to treat myself to a bike bench.
Anyone had any experience of these: 1000lbs 700mm WIDE HYDRAULIC MOTOR BIKE LIFT MB03C
The photos aren't that good but the price is (perhaps a bit to good?) and its wide enough to use with an Abba stand which is important.
Or any other recommendations? I seem to remember a thread not long ago featuring some bespoke ramps which can be delivered painted or unpainted that a guy makes to order which were rated very highly, but can't find it.
I want a good un not cheap, cheerful and wobbly.

  2. I would say that is probably the same as my lift. It works fine and I have no problems with it. I am even happy to raise the beast (1991 BMW K100RS 16v) to full height on it, and that is about 100kgs heavier than my Ducati 848.

  3. If I was investing I would go for a Skylift :)

  4. I like the idea of a full bench that gives a clean surface under the bike to put things on - bolts, spanners, mugs - and to lean on.

  5. Hospital bed bench thing. Cheap

  6. lazy :)

  7. And a rough, dusty garage floor. (I'm working on that..) And a knackered back and the eyes of a bat...

  8. Very similar to my one only mine is 220cm long and you really need every inch (centimetre!!) if you want to get front and back paddock stands under a bike. They do save of lot of bending but they are very heavy if you need to move them around at all.

I keep mine folded and laid up against the back of my workshop as it takes up a lot of floor space when it's left in a central position on the floor. But it's always worth getting it out to do the jobs that require working on the lower end of a bike or changing oil etc.

  9. I've got a Clarke bike lift, mine's also got an air lifting option (uses compressor) and that's very useful because you'd be surprised how many times you need to lift and drop and it takes forever with your foot.

If you wait for one of Machine Mart's (frequent) VAT free offers then they're quite reasonably priced.

Had mine for some years and it's the best bit of kit I've got, don't know how I managed before especially adjusting Ducati front cylinder exhaust valves!

Takes up a lot of space in the workshop but I use it as a bike parking space when not in use, although with 3 (Italian) bikes there's almost always one that needs attention anyway....

  10. all my big stuff came from them, ramps, compressor, tyre and balancing machine. good service. had to phone them once or twice for some tech assistance, v.helpfull. i have one of those wee ramps, if you do your own vehicle repairs cant recommend highly enough.
