hyper 1100 negative battery lead

  1. got to replace my neg battery lead as the loop snapped off this weekend. anyone done it? big job? little job? ordered from ducati wolves £12. any tips?

  2. I just re-crimped mine with a new eyelet: cost = £0 !

You need to make sure your battery is secure, even if it has the battery tray mod done. It's the backwards and forwards motion that snaps the cable, so putting in a block of foam or some other wedge to stop the battery moving will stop it going again.

  3. There was a recall to fix an issue with the battery - originally there was nothing to fix the battery in place so it could slide about and break the connectors.

The recall fitted a battery bracket and some velcro (seriously!) to hold the battery into place but many dealers didn't bother with the velcro and the strap over the top still allows the battery to move. Later models should already have this fitted...

I think it needs a better solution to hold it into place. The bracket only has one mounting point which will loosen over time and allow it to pivot, so the battery just moves as before. It really needs something like this instead:
