Factory manual I downloaded shows contradictory information regarding front sprocket orientation, see below, section view below left shows central boss inboard, exploded assembly view right shows outboard, which is correct? text states "flanged side facing engine" I take the flange as being the larger diameter & not the protruding boss dia.
On most bikes I've fitted front sprockets on the raised 'shoulder' let's call it faces towards the engine , have you taken the sprocket off your bike ?? Also if it has a raised shoulder if you fit it the wrong way round you can normally see that the chain looks askew if you look up inline from the rear cog
So you rekon then left hand image is correct, I replace chain & sprockets a while ago, just saw this in the manual & made me question it, mine is installed as left piccie. cheers
I couldnt be sure on it but would say the left hand pic is correct , as i said you would probably see that the sprocket doesnt sit central in the links of the chain , it would be hard over to one side .
would have thought youd want the working surface as close to the box as possible, having the shoulder acting as a spacer just increases the leverage on the shaft,so personally id have gone with the right picture. but then ive been wrong many times by using my logic.:Hilarious:
The left diagram looks like a different engine to the right - right diagram shows no tab on the lock washer, squarer cut teeth on the sprocket and a different style nut too...
just have to put it on loosely and see where the chain looks happily lined up i spose  if in doubt or new to a task in hand always take picture/drawing of what shit looks like before taking apart is a good motto. too late now i know
