Hyper weave at speed

  1. Dear all..

I've got the 796 Hyper and of late I've noticed when I wind her up she has a front end wobble or weave at approx 75mph I don't have a steering damper.. Would like to ask has anyone else had this issue... Mines running on Pilot 3 tyres which are approx 1000 miles old... Thanks

  2. Check your front tyre pressure. It's always the front tyre pressure.

  3. Funnily enough the SS is the first bike I have had that has never given me a hint of a weave or tank slapper............every other one has whether a single head shake when least expected to a full blown nasty.......therefore I think nearly of all my bikes got a steering damper fitted if it wasn't down to tyres or headstock bearings, although in one case on a Kawasaki after much experimenting with tyres and headstock bearings etc, it was found to be the top box.........

.........and headstock bearings too tight can easily induce a weave.

  4. I had similar issues till I fitted the Ohlins damper and having now done a few hundred miles I can confirm the weave is no more! The only downside being that I was popping along overtaking a couple of motors up a hill the other day and didn't realise untill I tried to round the bend that I had spent the last quarter mile on the back wheel.

  5. Grip what little tank there is with your knees, head down, and fkin' gun it!
