Hypermotard 1100 Evo Sp Sprag Clutch Bearing Replacement

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by comfysofa, Feb 5, 2020.

  1. As above - almost didnt get mine started going to work this morning....just went outside to check the battery terminals which are tight (although i tightened a bit more just to be sure) - the starter sounded like it was slipping which in turn sounds like a worn sprag....im just looking at parts at the moment and not too sure what i need...is it just the bearing itself or do i have to buy the fucking lot ? (which is probably what will happen knowing me). Ie theres another bearing in there as well ( a needle one ) so looking for a bit of advice...

And, anyone done it/need any special tools (im thinking flywheel puller initially)...

    Cheers

  2. When MR replaced the 1-way bearing on my Multistrada, they replaced the bearing, the bearing housing (which is also a cog) and a large drive cog. Parts cost £500 and it took something like 5 hours to replace. Andy

  3. Just watchin a vid of a lad doing a 1098 at the moment (which seems akin to the age of mine)...looks like i need the 3 parts together...the big gear, the bearing itself and the collar that goes around it....i say this very lightly but, it doesnt look too bad a job...

  5. If it were me, given the stress that particular part is under, I would not be considering taking a chance on anything other than an original component. There will be lots of people telling that it’ll be fine and maybe it will be but I’m not prepared to take chance. Andy

  8. Flywheel holding tool required, if metal parts not too worn you could try the ols snip on the spring to retension it. My 55k evo still on original but did have a new starter motor , possibly that? Got mine from states for about 140 quid.

  9. I've got a few one way clutches taken from new Panigale engines, the same part that is used in almost all Ducati's and it's the latest version for less than half the price of new

  10. So that's oem or aftermarket?

  11. It’s OEM, if you order one from Ducati and pay £146 you will get one just like that.

  12. Yeah... That's about the price riders gave me... Anyone got a spare oem one for sale? And any other oem parts for that matter...?

  13. That one is for sale, and I should also have the outer ring to match, I don’t have a driven gear (the only other part you need).

  14. How much do you want for that one?

  15. The one way clutch on it’s own is £75 delivered.
I don’t have the outer flange or the driven gear.

  16. And that's a brand new oem on (just making sure!)

  17. See post #11
