Hypermotard 1100 Ride Height

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by M55russ, May 1, 2014.

  1. I have read that some people have replaced the ride height rod on a Hyper 1100 for a 1100s adjustable rod. Has anyone carried out the mod to good effect ?

At the moment I can only find Sato Racing who do a after market one SATO RACING | Suspension Link Rod - Ducati Hypermotard 796 / 1100 evo

Does anyone know of any other company ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Ive just bought one but haven't fitted it yet. Mine is standard off the hyper sp. The same linkage is on 1000ds I believe. Also there were some nice looking ones on ebay from germany about £70 seem good quality but not sure. I hope to fit mine next week but deciding on whether to buy new shock or not.

  3. Let me know how you get on, I would be interested to know your feedback. I would also check on the Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum site as there are a couple of threads on there on changing the ride height rod out and some things to watch out for.......you will know what I mean when you have read them

  4. Fitted it a couple of days ago but only had a chance to ride it today.
Fitting was easy. Took off exhaust, undid bottom nut. The long bottom bolt was through from the left so just had my mate to tap it through while I held the allen key on the other side (Because the bolt was through from the left the shock remained in place).
Undone the top and took out the arm.
I adjusted the rod before fitting probably about 4 1/2 threads each side.
Put the bottom end in and hit the bolt back through and put nut on.
My mate just lifted the back end a little and I put the top of rod in.
    Torqued it up (45nm).
I've got to say it's totally transformed the bike. It's much stiffer. I was going to get an upgraded spring but I'm not going to bother now. no more pogo efect on accel/decel.
It doesn't turn in too quick which I was concerned about, and it feels more planted on the bends. I didn't find it unstable at all.
my mate who was riding with me said it looked very solid and when he rode it he couldn't believe the difference.
The bike is much taller (suits me I'm 6'1). I felt the front had gone up when I upgraded the fork spring and now the back is raised it looks and feels right.
