Looking at buying the Ducati passenger grabrail for my 821 Hypermotard for when i need to strap a bag on the back. Are there any other options? How long does it take to fit? Thanks in Advance...
Hi Steve821 I had one fitted to my Hyper and added Givi rack as well Spent a lot time looking at various possibilities but eventually this worked best for me Will try to post a pic of it for you. Dealer installed it, took about 30 minutes.
Ordered one from Ducati Pattaya now and will fit it temporarily when i get back in 2 weeks. Thanks for the info Gandalf.
I take it you have to take the rear plastic panel off then a simple bolt on job then?? Don't have much time when i get back so maybe just get shop to fit..
Sorry been away from the house and the bike for a few days. Here are a couple of pics showing the passenger grab rail as well as the GIVI rack for a topbox. I was going to install a box for getting to and from the office, but it is too difficult to find them here (they only have boxes for scooters which are not robust enough). So no box, but actually the rack together with some shock cords works really well, so I am thinking of getting some Kriega bags for travelling. I have read some good things about them. Note that if you decide to get the rack you will need to get some extra spacers (about 25 mm long). The rack comes with the two black spacers you can see in the Img_04, but they are too short. The bolts are long enough. Not quite sure whether this was a mistake with the kit I got or whether there has been a slight change to the 2015 model. Sending it back was not an option, it took two months to get it from Italy to Hanoi. I managed to find two spacers when I was in Japan a while back at a bike acessory / parts store and that solved the problem. (The Heath-Robinson solution for a couple of months was two additional stainless nut and a few washer... Not nice, but it served. Anyway, it works well and I have had some pretty bulky things and also some heavier things on it and it is fine. Obviously affects the handing a bit, but it you pack carefully and remember that there is something on the back it's fine. If you need more info, let me know. Cheers, Gandalf
