First impressions of the 821 are very good. I sold the 749s in an effort to slow myself down somewhat without losing out on the fun side of biking. The 821 certainly delivers, going like a stabbed rat in sport mode. The perfect bike for hooning around on in style
Have added some frame plugs to the bike to stop water getting in & running down the tubes & corroding the fixings etc. Not always an exact Dia fit so had to use a little clear RTV on the tabs but looks good. Cheap plastic on Italian vehicles doesn't look out of place http://uk.rs-online.com/mobile/c/ca...4,4294885425,4294885393,4294835039,4294809367
@Torquepen agree mate I love it, chopped a 12 month old gixxer 750 for the Hyper SP and its been fun all the way....have a 996 in garage for special days lol but the SP just does everything ....I love it
How do you find the clutch? If I change gear halfway through pulling the lever I can feel it on the cable. I'd like to know a bit more about the internals to gauge exactly how it works.
well i can only compare it to the 996...and with that in mind its a delight, i don't have any issues with it all.. the only issue is the fuelling, i find that between 2-4k revs its not at all smooth but that may be due to the fuel management system I fitted with an SC Projects can and air flitter. I have yet to adjust the settings on the dial to find the optimum setting which will hopefully smooth it out... other than that I tend to rave about it,, the looks, the fun, the riding position, performance , i honestly find the while package to be pretty spot on..i will pay attention to the clutch as you pointed out and let you know but so far no issues with it
Loving mine at min... Traded my zx10r to slow myself down and get back having more fun. Agree with clutch, was a little getting used to. Have added tail tidy and evotech radiator and lower protectors.
you should have said - I'd have told you that idea just doesn't work! Re the clutch - I still don't have that odd feeling you mention, but mine is getting less grabby as it wears in. I've been slipping it at traffic lights to warm it up and wear it in and it's helped. Much smoother when the bike is cold.
Yes Chris, I've gone with the Evotech rad guard & tail tidy. I know someone who put the other grill guard over the top of the front cylinder (under rad guard) but I think I prefer the solid protector from Ducati themselves as it might be better at stopping the water getting it. I'm gonna try what Jerry says as the clutch is all new and probably needs bedding in some.
There were some stalling issues I read somewhere. I've started riding it a bit more aggressively (it's hard not too) & not had any probs.
Im guessing that the choppy low end is standard ducati fare.....my 1100 did do that but now doesn't....a pleasure to filter through slow traffic now...
I workmates Hyperstrada has gone into the shop under guarantee after a burning rubber smell from engine. No exact details but seems like a seal has gone on a belt pully allowing oil to get out onto the inside of the cam belt cover.
