Hypermotard Handlebar Position.

  1. Having moved from a Superbike to the Hyper'riding position at the beginning of the year, I'm really enjoying the bike but even after a few months of 'acclimatization' I still feel I'd like a lower and further forward handlebar position. I've already changed the bars for a lower rise and slightly narrower set-up but am now considering going to a full-on, almost straight bar, like the LSL drag bar to get some more weight over the front end and what I feel would be, for me, a better balanced position for spirited accelerations and higher speeds. I've ridden many bike styles over the years, including off-road and think the 950 Hyper' is the best bike for my riding these days with its longer and softer suspension for the dodgy surfaces we face on the typical 'A'and 'B' roads and wondered if anyone else had made or considered the change ?
I'm aware the modern approach for handlebars is towards higher, wider and further back, but it's all about the balance for me and a more attacking standard position would mean less actively leaning forward into acclerations and less of that feeling of your bum rolling back in the saddle. (would also help in keeping the front wheel on the floor a little longer as we all know this is a constant issue on these bikes :p:D
    Thoughts and comments welcome. :upyeah:

  2. Interesting. I'm actually considering raising the handlebar of my 950 by putting a riser underneath the mount. The factory setup is putting a strain on my wrist. It hurt like hell after 2 days 1000km ride the other day. I tend to ride aggressively so my riding style may be a big factor but I believe raising the handlebar may help with my situation.

I have the lower handlebar setup on my Scrambler and I really like it. But at the end of the day, the low handlebar setup isn't very comfortable when riding 5-600km per day, for a few days.

  3. Thanks for the input, I think one big difference between us is that I'm focussing mainly on relatively short, sporty rides with my Hyper', so don't have to take the distance comfort into account you need on 5-600km rides.

  4. As long as the bars can go to full lock I don't see why this would be an issue if it makes you happy. Go for it! Post pics and maybe video!
