hi everyone, I have decided I will officially make the switch next spring, leaving my M796 for the hyper. now, I am 6.15" so quite tall, yet my feet touch the ground barely with the standard, and not really with the SP. provided I get a good deal from Ducati, is it really worth going for the SP? I have seen a thread about lowering the SP, with no easy fix. at this stage I can justify the extra cash, but I am really confused as to how this bike (the SP) can almost be too high for someone tall as me? thanks F
I'm also going for a SP, not really considered the seat height as a issue, I'm 5'10" and my current ride has a seat hieght of 875mm, 15mm lower than SP, and I can reach the floor fine.
I can't see how you struggle unless you get your height from long body and shorter legs (not talking the pics I have 2 mates same height as each other but totally different leg reach). I've got a 796 hyper and at 6"1 myself it felt way to short. I fitted new for springs and that lifted the front. Then I fitted the special height adjustable bar and a 1100 shock (thanks comfy). Much better now, I wound them up (4 1/2 threads each side showing) but can still sit with both feet.on floor
Taken from a review online:" With an 870mm seat height on the SP compared to a much lower 850mm standard bike seat height. It’s tall. So tall that even at 6ft 4”in my socks it’s a stretch to the floor.
Im fine with the SP, I just tilt the bike over slightly, or stop next the raised curb. I find the hardest bit is trying to get around traffic whilst on the bike and having to navigate left to right as you are on tippy toes. The bike is so nicely balanced that I don't feel the need to put my feet down everywhere.
ok sure, but I thought people taller than 6' would be able to stand with both feet down, as I can do with the "standard" hyper.
can also someone confirm if the 3 maps on the SP are the same (simply renamed) of the std Hyper? what's the difference? is the SP a stiffer ride than the std?
Pretty sure the race mode and likely the sport mode are a little "racier" and "sportier" than on the standard hyper and the race mode is seriously " pull your arms off" if caught napping For me it's the sp all the way unless you really want the softer option because you "tour" For real tech details speak to the dealer and test BOTH...
Id argue that - Ducati in Bristol were happy to let me test one (didn't take them up on it) but they offered....
Interesting. Spoke to Ducati Aylesbury and they told me it was a no go and I was not going to find a dealer that would have one to test ride
Can't see the point of considering lowering an SP, wasn't the whole reason for it higher ground clearance and better setup for track?
