So thanks fir help so far in stripping forks Rhs done Lhs is different internals ,I know it's not fixed at the bottom, it's floating bit how do I get rod and spring internals out ,us this bottom threaded or do I need a special tool to pull it out,any help appreciated
Have you removed the bolt from the very bottom of the forks holding the internals in position or have you already removed it? https://images.app.goo.gl/gH3yBZYsb8cGcS7N8
Yeah lhs done ,rhs can't be threaded just figured that out by sliding outer tube up and down ,so presume it has to be pulled out but looking at it I may need some sort of puller ,or if anyone knows how to remove
The parts diagram indicates there’s no spring in the LH leg. https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/d...perstrada/Hyperstrada/FRONT-FORK/198/21/0/198 It looks like RH fork is the only one that’s sprung and which you adjust for preload, LH fork controls compression & rebound rates.
Yeah it does suggest that but apparently few people have stripped them and there were springs in both sides, will soon find out.
Is there an adjuster in the bottom bracket? If there is, that may well hold the damper pressure tube in place and needs to be removed first.
Had a look at the parts diagram. Clearly they don't show this side in its component parts. I suspect all the damping is being done on the one leg, same as some of the monsters. So springs both sides but damping only in one leg. On my monster there was a bolt in the bottom of both sides. Clearly you don't have that so it would have to be held at the top of the leg. A thin snap ring perhaps?
It's clear to me now that the top is screwed into the leg. Needs some kind of prong tool to unscrew it. Large circlip pliers may do it. Heat should help in case there is some loctite present
Thanks, yeah tried unscrewing it may need heat ,it's tight triedlong nose pliers but felt I would damage it,presume ducati has a special tool for it.
