I don't think any other bike will do.....

  1. Well since taking the Multi out on test last week the main problem that has been lingering in my mind is the price, it's a hell of a lot of money for a motorcycle.

So I have started to look at cheaper alternatives, BMW GS, Triumph Tiger 1050 and the KTM but I just have the feeling that every time I see a Multistrada I will just regret the compromise.

I have had a high number of bikes in a short space of time and have lost out in monetary terms obviously, the next bike I buy I really want to be a bike I will keep for a considerable length of time, I think the Multistrada is the one......

    Bank Job anyone?!

  2. Worse than heroin in terms of addiction. I was was out to get a Triumph Xc800, a KTM SMT or a GS 1200/800. I kept reading the great reviews on the mutley and thought I would jut go and test pilot one with no intention to buy given the cost, 90 mins later I had signed on the dotted line.
I have put 10,000 miles on mine in 18 months and I am thinking of chaniging it, for another Multi (but a Pikes Peak this time).

  3. Take one for a test ride, you'll know instantly if it's the bike for you.

  4. I managed to resist the urge to dive straight in, mainly because I need to sell my current bike and think I will get a better deal when the 13' bikes are released.

I already have, that's the problem!

  5. Buy one then...

  6. I was in exactly the same position in the summer of 2010, looked at the multi but couldn't justify the cost at first - spent ages driving around the dealers looking at the same alternatives as you've mentioned but there wasn't one that had the same appeal, yes they were cheaper but they LOOKED cheaper too!.
In the end i just went out & got the Multi & have not regretted it for one second..... go on do the deal, you won't be happy till you've got one :upyeah:

  7. Ultimately I think I will, February time

Hopefully I can pick up a 1200ST for around £11k come early next year

  8. Buy used, best time of year to buy and someone else has taken the hit then, my 2500 miler 60 plate s touring was 10995 last month, has tom tom scala sat nav and locking mount, ducati colour coded topbox, r&g side protectors and a mivv full sustem inc decat. Spent extra £300 on years warranty. 500 miles later so far so good!

contrast that with price of a new one in august with none of the above extras, '£14800 if you register this month'.....hmmmm.

  9. Yeah but the problem is when you also need to sell or trade a bike in at this time of year, either way I suppose I am going to take a hit, ideally I want an 11 or 12 plate.

I know many with the 2010's have been fine but there seems to be a higher proportion who have reported problems.

  10. I also want to wait until after the EICMA in Milan to see if a smaller Multi is released or if it is indeed gonna be a new Hypermotard

  11. Fair enough, Mines been ok, mileage can be just as important as age, should have seen dealers face the time i tried to px a 1098 with 10k miles on it.

  12. Thought about a new one on the TRI options plan ? good alternative to paying full wack for a new one, just trade every two years, and never out of warranty

  13. Maybe I'll sell you mine if I like the MY13 enough... It's an MY10 though, although its been fine, and has warranty until September 2013. Yes, all the usual recalls, but they've all had that. Otherwise its been great... Probably blow up now... ;-)

  14. Feel your pain mate, I felt exactly the same after taking a test ride, within an hour of arriving back at the dealers, I'd sold my soul for one of these bikes!

Look at it this way, life is short, we are on the earth for the 3 score and 10 years, we don't get another go at it, no rehearsal - so my mantra is buy the fucker (by what ever means) and enjoy it.....:upyeah:
