I Just Put Down A Deposit On An 899 Panigale!

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by redders, Apr 14, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone,

As the title suggests, I put a deposit down on a brand spanking new 899 panigale today! The dealer said it would be ready by the middle of next week, so I imagine the next few days are going to be some of the longest of my life!

As an introduction, I live in Newbury, I've been riding for 4 years now, and for all of those years I've had an SV650s. Great bike to start on (I did the DAS), still a lot of fun, but I've been looking to upgrade it for some time, and now I can finally afford to!

I used to commute on my bike, but since the end of last year I've been working for myself, so I commute in slippers now... The bike will be for fun, and the occasional track day.

... now it's time to get an insurance quote...

  4. Nice upgrade! Wich colour did you go for? And have you got any extra's planned (Termi's, etc.)?

  5. Hey redders, Did you order from Blade? If so, were they willing to do a deal at all?

It is amazing how delivery times differ between dealers.

  6. Hello mate, I'm local, from hungerford and lived in Newbury for a bit. Did u buy from Blade? I got my 848 Evo from there, u will love it!! :)

  7. @Hostyle - I went for white - it was a really tough decision though as both look gorgeous. I'm gonna get a tail tidy off the bat, and maybe some levers (any recommendations?), but other than that keep it stock to start with, 'til the wallet recovers a bit... I would absolutely love the termis, but gonna see how I feel about the stock cans for a while, because that is a lot to justify.

@DukeT & @Phill748 I didn't order from blade in the end, no - I spoke to Andy there and he said it'd be ~1month to get a white one. I had to head down to Portsmouth this weekend so stopped in at Alton, and they had just taken delivery of a white one, so I decided to grab it from there. It's a bit further away, but the route is nice so I'm not fussed ;)

Re: deals from blade - the guy didn't mention any to me - I went for the PCP anyway, so I doubt they'd do anything on top of the current offer from Ducati

  8. Nice one Dave :upyeah:

I'm gonna have another word with Ducati Manchester on seeing exactly what they can do for me if I p/x mine. Failing that I have already started my draft for an ad for my bike. And I'm waiting for Carole Nash to call me back about the insurance :)

  14. Lets hope the insurance quote doesn't upset the process. I would love a 1199 panigale, I could afford it, but the insurance will kill me.

  15. Congratulations, I am sure you will love it.

I called into my local dealer today and they were quoting June or later for an 899 but said they had a Red one coming in within the next couple of days that was going to be their demo but that I could have it if I wanted it !!!

Problem is I cannot afford it, but, worked out the figures using the pcp offer and the total cost is around the same as it would be if I just got a loan over 5 years through the bank with £100 lower payment.
Problem is that the £5000 deferred payment would be due in three years but it would more than likely be going in for something else then anyway.

So tempting, only had the Blade a few months though !!

  16. Is that another Snells customer i smell ;-)

    Congrats, great choice all around

  17. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Can't believe it's still Monday. Probably the first time in my life I'll be wishing away the bank holiday weekend.

@Bananaman I did make sure I could afford the insurance beforehand - it's not as bad as I thought it might be :)

  18. If you don't mind me asking what have you been quoted for insurance? And by who? And what excess etc etc :)

  19. Don't mind at all - will update this properly when I get a fresh quote tomorrow, but the premium when I last looked was £850ish.

  20. Bloody hell I'll be balking if it comes back more than £325 ;)
