but... I've looked around and there are a lot of conflicting info out there... can someone please give me a definitive answer? i am trying to convert my bip to mono. not interested in changing subframe, just a tail unit. i've just accepted delivery of NEW (believe it or not) tail unit and mono seat pad. do i need anything else or can i re-use all the fixings from my original tail unit? some people recon that you need to change light bracket and use different bolts and nuts??? others recon you can re-use everything from bip tail. before i dismantle my bike i want to make sure i have everything ready to put it back together as a mono. also, what do you guys think about this front number board? is it a good one? Nose Fairing NUMBER BOARD for Ducati 748 916 996 998 | eBay thanks!
just swap all the bits over mate, they just unbolt 5 min job. make sure to put the locking pin the right way round or the seat wont lock.
Million and one now...! google for Red998 s postings on this topic-very clear and good, with photos IIRC.
I have a mono 998s Final edition and also did have the same bike in the biposto version at the same time ( stupid I know ) the seat fittings are the same 30 min job all in to change them all over.
I had a Bip, and got a mono seat unit for it to swap with the Bip one. I'd generally ride it as a mono, but when I wanted to go away for a weekend with a tail pack, I'd just swap over to the Bip seat to put the pack on. Indeed - a couple of bolts undone and that was all there was to it. The best of both worlds.
Mono seat needs a different latch bracket if fitting to a biposto subframe (or you can modify a bip bracket) but otherwise both seats will fit onto a biposto frame. Keep both seats and converting from biposto to mono takes only a few seconds (other than fitting/removing footpegs).
