Having recently bought a GS 1200 for some comfortable touring and joined a nameless forum I get the impression that most BMW owners are somewhat stuck up their own anal passages. Its not really news to me that they seem to suffer from delusions of grandeur , based on some misplaced superiority complex. I am quite happy with the GS which does what it says on the tin, but I cant help feeling the invisible waves of scorn being aimed at me, despite waving at anything on two wheels. Ah well, I am off now to grow a thicker skin and polish my Ducati.
Can't help but notice it seems to be the whole 'lifestyle' thing that makes certain riders haughty. Buy a BMW and you must, by default, buy the System helmet and the System overland textiles. Same with Harley, the leather waistcoat is not an option, same with Ducati and their godforsaken Corse trinkets. And the people who subscribe to the matching everything are the ones, I find, who hold their noses aloft. It ain't for me. I worked out long ago that bikes are all about personal enjoyment, not about what other people think of you.
Try Boxertrix? That's where my brother is on, and he has mostly a reasonable laugh. Sme knobs but hey, they are everywhere to a lesser or greater degree
No different to here..plenty of anal and elitist types reside ;-) I'm nod-happy when I ride, and have to say when riding m GS I had less nod-back than on any other bike....its the 'I wanna be Ewan' factor attached to the bike and the Harley-model BMW (and Ducati) aim to endorse to not only get you to buy their metal and plastic but also the goretex, leather and head-shell to match
shall we swap the words around and see how it reads Having recently bought a Ducati for some back road blasting and joined a nameless forum I get the impression that most Ducati owners are somewhat stuck up their own anal passages. Its not really news to me that they seem to suffer from delusions of grandeur , based on some misplaced superiority complex. I am quite happy with the Ducati which does what it says on the tin, but I cant help feeling the invisible waves of scorn being aimed at me had a BMW once, good bike but boring, and it broke down everytime I went to across the ditch to euro land would I buy another - no
While we're on the subject of BMWs, can those of you with GS's please get out of the fkin' fast lane, me and my rattly old duke/guzzi are waiting to get past...
K75 back in the days before chips were readily available to release another 15 horsepower that were lurking in there somewhere
I think that applies to most German vehicle drivers on the road these days I must say the BM 'off roaders' that I have 'met' have been :cough:wankers:cough:
Someone has to ride one looks like you drew the short straw Now if it was a RR I would nod at you Actually I nod at everyone Going back to polish my Ducati
It makes me laugh when filtering, GS riders wibbly-wobbling all over the place at 5mph while the rest of the world goes past laughing their cocks off. The mercedes drivers of the bike world
Tell me I'm wrong  Actually I know some nice bimmer owners, but GS riders reserve a special place in the winky-wonky world of spanners who are in it for the pose. All the gear no idea is the correct phrase in their instance. Don't do it to yourself - trade it ...
