1200 DVT Iconic Parts Screen Spacer Fitting?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Solstice, Nov 19, 2021.

  1. Chaps, I’ve got the spacers fitted, but the captive nuts which fit into the spacers seem to spin when the set screws start to get some resistance from biting into the nylon of the nuts, any advice?
    Thanks

  2. I'm assuming, without being familiar with the assembly, that the kit uses nyloc nuts. The idea with these is that you wind the screw into the nylon insert, and the screw thread cuts in to the nylon. The nylon is snug around the thread, which prevents it from coming undone.

  3. The recesses in the spacer for the nut should hold it to stop rotation IIRC.

  4. You have to push and hold the nut into the spacer from behind to get the nut in far enough to grip into the shaped recess, a bit fiddly but assuming the recess has the nut cut outs in place it should then work.

  5. If the recess is too big you'll have to jam a small flathead screwdriver in between the nut and the recess to stop the nylock nut spinning until it's tight enough.

  6. This is what I had to do.
