I did the Ducati Track day on the 996 yesterday against a sea of V4/V2 and what seemed to be the uk's V4R owners club, I've never seen so many ! All I did to the 996 was to put Brembo SC pads in, Motul racing brake fluid and Bridgestone S22's and track panels. To say it held its on was an understatement, yes it got eaten on the straights but it was nipping back in the corners and on the brakes and I was just amazed how it's still so competent. It was Silverstone GP so massive straights, round a tighter twistier track it would have been even better. I can only imagine how good a really well tweaked bike with a modded/swapped motor would be. (it did have a massive coolant leak from a loose allen bolt around the temp sensor area, but hey that's the fun of ownership, got it fixed and back out)
Yeah. Saw you on that bike, sorry would have said hello if I had known. At Donny it was the V4s that we’re boiling over- about 4 of them spilled their coolant. It was 33degrees air temp though. No 748/9** issues spotted that day.
Blimey that must have been roasting ! Mine was just a loose bolt but it still splatted out over my left boot and onto the tire, luckily it was towards the end of the session, although it must have looked funny as I pulled into the pits in a cloud of steam, I thought it was on fire for a minute !
It was quite unpleasant. I did not dare take my leathers off between sessions or for lunch as I doubt if I would have been able to get back in them. Scorchio
