Geezus! Only 260 miles and some cnt has already tried to break the seat open and damage the seat on my 821 SP. I thought somebody had dropped a cigarette end on the seat and burnt a hole. I got home and looked closer. They had pulled on the right hand side under the seat upwards to try and gain access to the under seat. I mean what exactly are you going to do under there? The bike was right under a CCTV camera, so to get somebody to see the footage they need me to report it to the police and they will go through the footage. I have just found out that a push bike was stolen too. The weird thing is that there have been builders in this enclosed area for a few months. They have just finished their work and only had a few guys left over cleaning up the area. Funnily enough that was their last day yesterday and there is nobody around today. Its only a small mark in the seat and there is a small indent under the seat. The hole is sized and shaped like a thumb nail mark. A mark that you would not be able to do with a thumb, more likely a tool.
Its been reported, the police are coming around today to chat about my bike and the push bike that was taken, and take the CCTV footage away with them. My luck will be that the camera is not pointing in my direction or something.
That is shit. Felt very similair when some tool tried to nick my almost worthless Kawasaki. Did £200 worth of damage, which is about half of the bikes actual worth
I'm amazed that the police would even bother investigating this, but I suppose it depends where you are. I had bicycles stolen in London which I don't think I even bothered to report, such is the total indifference to this sort of crime. When my 916 was stolen in France, I had to go to a police station to report it (for insurance purposes). No one was even remotely interested in coming to have a look at where it had been stolen from. My pocket was picked in London and the credit card immediately used in various Oxford St shops just before late night closing time. One shop had the guy on their CCTV footage - but nothing was done. If you're not a perp with a long beard and a doily on your head, these days the Met just isn't bothered. They are too overworked filling in forms. Their attitude to these crimes is to put up posters that say, if you leave it on the street, expect it to be stolen. So don't leave it there. Good luck!
Wankers, I've just had my catalytic converter stolen off my ute. Parked on my drive but they still took it. They'll probably get 50 quid for it, it's cost me 600 to sort. I can't wait to catch someone doing something. I'll not be worrying about paperwork that's for sure. Hope you get a result from the footage.
^^^^ this is really big round here at the moment too. Local hire firm that has sprinters has had every at stolen. They've had to resort to swapping them for transits as the cat is harder to get too.
Ahhh.... our travelling crime wave that is untouchable by the law. Having huge theft issues in my area too. Funnily enough there is a mobile crime syndicate camped a few miles away.
I some what agree with you I was kind of embarrassed that they wanted to come around and have a look. But to get the CCTV footage looked at I had to get a police number. The people would only release the footage to the police. I'm just curious to see if anything was captured, if the police recognise the person. No harm in that. Considering that I have only been at this new company for 1.5 months and the bike has only been parked in the enclosed parking area for around 10 days. And considering a push bike was stolen the same day. Police involvement which was only a phone call away seemed pretty logical. If it just means that a police person walks through our court yard once. That's better than nothing. Anyway, ordered a new seat and will patch this one up and sell it on eBay. Whilst I was their ordering the parts, I added on a full termi system to my skyhook multi. So all in all it was a pretty expensive exercise. *awaiting big grins*
I got attacked on way home from bar work I got grabbed and the scum tried to get me down an alleyway and grabbed me straight between my legs . I'm only 5ft 1 .. But built like a cart horse .. Wrong woman a few boots with my docs and me shouting he legged it . He wasnt after money ( he'd have got a Pound ! ) I called the police as CCTV right by us and one across the road .. I got sorry the image wasnt clear enough for us to identify him! Ffs!
As for bike thief's and people that dick about with stuff! Twice I've down Southend Shakedown. Once pre paint job another biker parked so close that he knocked me or it got pushed but his lever went straight in my tank and damaged it.. No note they ride off.. In fairness probably member of public. 2nd time new paint all scratched. And a phone call to say people climbing on my bike taking photos .. Then a group of drunks on it.. I hit the roof !! Luckily the person told them to get off . If I was to get up on someone's car bonnet and jump about there would be hell.. So why do people think its fine to jump on your bike without asking. Oh caught one guy picking at my paint! Said to him excuse me .... He said oh oh just wanted to see what was in the paint!!! I said well how would you like me to go up and scratch your car to see what the paints like !!! Now F off !!!!! Grrrr
It's not just kids and/or scumbags either... Two incidents come to mind ( both with cars )... Many years ago I had a Volvo P1800S - bright red, very flash etc etc - left it in Tesco's carpark, came back to see a woman stand her shopping bag on the boot whilst she unlocked her own shit-box hatchback, then drag it off leaving two great scratches in my paintwork. Fortunately for her she had actually driven off by the time I legged it across the carpark... The other time was at a vehicle rally in Plymouth town centre with a Mini club - I had a Midas kit-car. This old bloke comes over, totally ignores me and starts tapping on the bodywork and running his fingernails up and down it. When I asked him ( politely ) to stop he got all arsey and started waving his walking stick at me. It's just a total lack of respect for other people's stuff... Bloody annoying !
