I'm heading to misano on the 13th July for the imola wsb round, I would love to visit the ferrari museum's, I'd have to use train to bologna but does the train continue on to modena? I believe there is a shuttle bus between the modena museum and maranello.
I don't know about transport links, but can thoroughly recommend the museum. The cars are lovely, but more interesting for me was where they had all their engine designs displayed. There are a few really wacky prototypes on display.
I was there several years ago ( we had a driver on that occasion) but really want to visit again, I think it was the maranello museum I visited.. I presume you can buy your tickets at entrance on the day?
I was staying with my family in Bologna a few years ago and we took the train to Modena to visit the Ferrari museum. It is housed in a fabulous modern building which has been added on to one of the old original buildings and is well worth a visit. The restaurant is also rather good and you can buy tickets for the shuttle bus to Maranello in a shop across the road from the museum. If I remember correctly, you can (and perhaps should) book both museum tickets on-line beforehand. We didn’t allow enough time to get to Maranello in time for our booked trip round the track and found the museum a bit disappointing. I think we were a bit Ferrari’d out by that stage.
Train services in Italy are excellent. There is a direct train but Google is your friend simply ask it Misano to Modena and set the date, it will provide you all options, times and costs.
