Importing

  1. Anyone no anything about importing from USA. Looking at a frame for a ducati, very cheap compared to here, made contact with the company, they have said for me to sort out a postage label from someone like DHL and send to them and they will send item. as it's to big for them? Is this all there is to it plus import tax, is that NOVA or something different. Any info or suggestion, thanks.

  2. With something as bulky as a frame, even if it is second hand, it is unlikely that you will escape the import duty (no idea what the % is) + HMRC charge + VAT. I have no experience of changing a frame number on the V5 or getting a V5 for a new build but the DVLA are not the easiest people to deal with. I believe the NOVA is for registering an imported complete bike. The internet is your friend and both the HMRC and DVLA web sites aren't too bad to navigate round, you just need to be patient. 3. Thanks for that, bike mags make it sound easy, with vat/custom's and dvla not looking to get round tax's just trying to find out what i have to do to sort out shipping and who to go with all new to me. Thanks again

  4. Forgot, shipping from the States is not cheap, certainly add high £10s if not £100+, all of which makes frames from within the EU not quite so expensive. Good luck. Andy
