I was loaned a 950 Multi for the last week whilst waiting for Ducati to send a re-set code for the DAir! I have to say I was fairly impressed. I commuted in to London a few days and it had a great turn of speed, nice crisp acceleration, a bit lighter (not much) and the 19" front wheel made it more manoeuvrable in the traffic. I didn't get a chance for a 'spirited' run, suspension was a bit more basic (but OK) but all I really missed was the keyless ignition and I would have wanted cruise control if I was using it for longer trips. All in all I would say if you are trying to weigh up the advantages/cost of the 1200 vs the 950, and you are on a limited budget then this bike will not disappointed you.
Test comparison on youtube. Looks pretty good. Just wonder if you bought one you,d always wonder, what if i had ?????
I had a test ride on one and liked it apart from the excessive fork dive. I got back on my Tiger 800 and it felt like a sports bike in comparison.
I can honestly say that if you are looking at a new 950 vs a S/H 1200 then the new 950 would not be a bad choice. Plenty of power, very crisp acceleration, it's juust all the 'extras' that make the difference. It's a bit like the difference between buying a 1200 vs 1200S, both great bikes but not everyone has the budget.
Polar opposite for me gents. I too had one on loan. I found it to be heavy (similar weight to big brother), slightly top heavy, lacked poke, vague front end & questionable finish. I appreciate the 1200s is another price bracket ( new one anyway) but it is a far, far superior bike in every way . Just my opinion of course.
