I managed to get a better image of my laboured pattern finish, hopefully shows what I was looking for and obtained via a little hard hard work and some help from my friend...OCD ...
Thank you.. I know what Im looking to achieve.. It may take me a long while to get there.. But, achieve.. I will. I have no choice, Determ...rules my head .. N@@DS
Old tool making trick for textured / grained dies that have been damaged is sand paper and a hammer. Works on tool steel so very easy on alloy and gives a great result with coarse paper. Yours doesn't look as convincing to be honest - like it is a new style of finish and not simulating a sand cast finish. Is that what you were after? Looks good either way
A tiny ballpeen hammer, course grit sandpaper, with another hammer, and some hand made round end punches to get the difficult bits .. Tens of tens of hours, OCD, and severe repetitive strain syndrome.... Can I sue myself on a no win no fee basis do you know? N@@DS
Never tried it on aluminium, just steel, hence the different result. Everyone needs to strip their Engines of that crappy paint and start tapping away. Are you leaving it bare and just rubbing with ACF50?
Yes mate... Soda blasted top three quarters of engine only sump area patterned... Acf to protect... Soon to be a.... "Only taken out when there are no dark cloud days" member... Lol
I will do mate.. This pic shows the hammered effect below and the hammered then grit hammered finish in the top half of the pic..
Ha... I had two years riding her, then got a bit bored, hence strip down.. She will have NCR internals too so hopefully a little more power, she's also shedding a lot of weight.. I'm guessing it will be spring 2016.. Hopefully..
Sometimes patient.. V dertermined yes, v fussy on detail, and stupid so some would say... Oh and very handsome, according to Kylie M.... Zzzzzzzzzzz...
