Inguinal hernia surgery

  1. On Friday 24/10 I am due to go into hospital for surgical repair of an inguinal hernia. I've been waiting for this operation for months, so glad the date has arrived at last. It is said to be one of the commonest surgical operations in the world, and it should be quick and simple with a rapid recovery - but no-one can take that for granted. When I mention hernia to various friends and people I meet, an astonishing number then say, "I've had one of those" and proceed to tell me about their own experiences. Wish me luck.

  2. askd me surgeon mate, "totally routine" was the reply.

  8. Pete, at least you will have plenty of time to prepare. Friday 24th October 2014 is a year away, but the time will pass quickly. I hope your hernia does not give you too much gyp before then.

    Keep well.

  20. Surgery done and dusted successfully, back home now recovering and keeping cheerful. Aches and bruising, hobbling, taking strong painkillers, won't be able to drive/ride for a while. The fact that the wife is a nurse fully-trained in post-operative care of patients is a bonus. Thanks for all the good wishes.
